Comments: Sabine Pass beat 2A East Chambers 5-2. Lovelady beat Grapeland 2-1 in district play. The Lady Rabbits of Ralls finished third in their tournament losing to Muleshoe. Douglass beat Slocum twice as they improved to 6-1 on the season. Colmesneil beat Chester 23-1 in three innings as Kayla Bryan had two home runs and eight runs batted in for the winners. Detroit was co-champs in the Maud tournament as they battered Dodd City 15-1, Wolfe City 18-4, split with Maud losing 4-1 and winning 2-0, then beating Hughes Springs 8-3 and Daingerfield 19-3. Maud is playing well and beating all comers but splitting with Detroit.

Comments: East Bernard won the Liberty tournament and is 12-0 on the season, while Wichita Falls City View is 10-2 with wins over Amarillo High, Wichita Falls Rider, Petrolia (2), Borger, Hirschi, Eula, San Angelo Lakeview, Notre Dame and Iowa Park, with losses to 3A Vernon and 3A Burkburnett. Deweyville blanked Hardin 10-0. Anahuac edged Kirbyville. Danbury beat an excellent 3A West Columbia and defeated Bridge City. Danbury looked good against big schools in the La Porte tournament. Early is 6-0 in regular games and 9-0 including pool games winning the Eastland tournament for the second straight year. Hallettsville beat Poth 9-0 in the Schulenburg tournament, finishing 4-1, losing to 3A Columbus after having beaten the same team earlier. Hallettsville is 9-3. Woden Lady Eagles are 13-1 after posting a 5-1 record in the Liberty tournament, losing only to 4A Crosby 4-1. Kermit improved to 15-7 by placing second in the 3A Snyder tournament las weekened. Kermit won all five games it played, outscoring its opponents 36-5. Brownwood won the tournamentt with 92 points, Kermit had 80 points and Lubbock Cooper was third with 78. In other action, Alpine shut out Tuscola Jim Ned 5-0. Slaton girls softball beat 3A Sweetwater 3-2 in eight innings. Dilley is 9-3 with wins over Laredo Alexander, Laredo Martin and United South. In the Border Olympics, 2A Dilley lost to defending champion 5A Eagle Pass 4-3. The Post Lady Lopes are off to a solid start at 10-1, losing only to Shallowater, advanced to the championship of the Ralls tournament losing to 2A Muleshoe in the finals. Eastland (7-1) won the Mineral Wells tourney by defeating Wichita Falls Hirschi 16-1, Stephenville 11-0, and Mineral Wells 1-0 in the championship game. The only Eastland loss of the year came to Bowie 13-12. Aubrey is 16-2 after winning the Bridgeport tournament and went 6-0. Aubrey pitcher is Kacey Carlock with a 15-0 record off the mound.

Comments: LaGrange is 13-1 with only a loss ro 4A Elgin. Celina beat both Waco Midway and Forney 4-2 and improved to 16-3 overall by beating Anna 10-0, as Katelyn Drummond and Kassidy Holmes combined to throw a no-hitter. Drummond struck out six, walked four and faced 18 batters in five innings for Celina (16-3). Holmes retired the side in order in the sixth. Shelby Carter's two-run triple capped a five-run sixth for Celina. Giddings clipped Elgin 3-2 but dropped a game to 5A Cy Woods. Gatesville is 16-4 with recent wins over Waco Robinson 7-1, Hendrickson 7-4, Frenship 4-2, Temple 11-0, Hutto 4-1, Lorena 1-0 and 6-0, and a loss to Liberty Hill. Needville (15-1) beat Splendora in a good eight inning game, while 2A Danbury beat a good 3A West Columbia team. Celina beat Ryan 6-3, then lost to McKinney 3-2 in extra innings. Splendora went 5-1 at the Southlake Carroll tournament, losing only to 5A College Park, then lost to Katy 3-1. Yoakum was 6-0 in the Seguin tournament, finishing third with 56 points, while San Antonio O'Connor finished with 58 and Lampasas finished with 57. Yoakum beat Luling 10-1, Canyon Lake 10-3, San Antonio Southside 4-2, Poteet 16-0, Gonzales 7-1, and San Antonio Steele 7-0. Megan Carmichael has an ERA of 1.10 and has 90 SO in 55 innings pitched. Lufkin Hudson was 4-1 at the McKinney tournament, losing to 4A Royce City, but beating Community, Van Alstyne, Sherman and Whitesboro to improve their overall record to 14-6. Rusk is 19-2 after posting a 5-1 record in Longview last week. Celina went 5-1 in the Belton tournament, beating 4A Waco Midway 4-2, 5A Belton 6-0, 5A Pasadena Memorial 2-0, 5A Vista Ridge 9-1, 4A Forney 4-2 and losing to 5A Midland Lee 6-3. Burkburnett is playing well, beating Levelland in the finals of their tournament for the championship. Van is 15-0 after winning the White Oak/Spring Hill tournament, as Mount Vernon was second, Spring Hill third, and Pittsburg was fourth. Van beat Central 14-0, Gilmer 11-1, New Diana 13-0, Pittsburg 6-0, White Oak 6-0, and Mount Vernon 3-0 in the championship game. Comments: Angleton is playing well, while Brennan is 17-1 after beating Montgomery 2-1 in eight innings on a Victoria Lehrmann HR. Brenham defeated Weimar 12-2, Silsbee 9-0, El Campo 5-3, Westside 10-0, and Huffman Hargraves 5-4. It was a tough week in 4A as both Waco Midway and Forney lost to 3A Celina 4-2. Dripping Springs continued their tear, improving to 12-4 after a 1-3 start. Rockwall beat Leander and The Colony but lost to Birdville. Birdville got battered by Aledo 5-1 in their district opener. Brenham blasted Silsbee 9-0 while Nederland blanked El Campo 4-0. Livingston edged Ozen 1-0 and Barbers Hill clipped Fort Bend Kemper 2-1. LCM went 4-1 at Brenham losing only to 3A powerhouse LaGrange. Denton Ryan was 4-2 at the Missouri City tournament, losing to Clear Brook 4-0 and to Montgomery 5-2, but beating Pearland 6-3, Texas City 12-0, solid Lamar of Houston 1-0 and Clear Lake 3-0. Up in District 5-4A, Guyer looks good while in Region 1 overall, Azle, Birdville, Joshua and Aledo are all very good. Dripping Springs continues to pile up the wins after a slow start. Lampasas finished second in the Seguin tournament beating Austin Regan 16-0, Pleasanton 2-0, North Dallas 16-0, Austin Reagan (again) 17-0, San Antonio Brackenridge 8-5 and Bastrop 2-0 for a 6-0 record and second place in the point based event, won by 5A San Antonio O'Connor. Lampasas is 14-5 on the season. Elgin is 17-5 after handing LaGrange their first loss of the season 5-2. Santa Fe was 2-4 in tournament action. Little Elm is 18-1 on the season, currently riding a 12 game win streak. Kingsville King High, undefeated for the season, won the Mira's Bayfront Bash, defeating New Braunfels Canyon. Tuloso Midway was second in the 32 team event and has lost two of their three games to King. Joshua Lady Owls went 4-1-1 for the week by beating Everman, tied Sagina 1-1, beat Marble Falls 9-6, beat Odessa 3-1, Weatherford 11-9 and lost to Keller 5-1. Nederland had a bad loss to Spring but has looked solid in wins over Round Rock and Huffman, who defeated PNG 1-0. LCM drilled Bellville 13-0 while Silsbee dumped Bellville 11-0. LaGrange slammed Nederland 6-1, and clipped LCM 1-0. Medina Valley is 14-5.

COMMENTS: Katy clobbered Austin Bowie 11-1, after Bowie pitcher Blaire Luna left the game with an injured hand. Katy blanked Bryan 9-0 but defending state champion Alvin beat Katy 6-5. Down in the Missouri City tournament, Alvin, Katy, Flower Mound and Bowie all looked good while Fort Bend Clements is 17-4-1, with wins over Bellaire (2-0), Elkins (9-0), Brazoswood (6-1), Weatherford (2-1), and Baytown Sterling (6-0), while winning the Pearland tournament. Odessa High traveled to Saginaw, losing to Saginaw 2-0, Keller 3-0 and Joshua 3-1, but beating Marble Falls 8-1 and Weatherford 5-2 to improve to 13-3-1. Klein Oak is on top in 5A but the next group is bunched with Elkins, Katy, Clements, Bowie and Bellaire followed by Pearland, Dobie, The Woodlands and Midland Lee.
