Bake wrote:Why do teams that have a mixture of two ages put a birth year in their team name. This misleads people into thinking that all the players on that team were born in the same year. Please post reasons why a team would do this. Most of the better programs in Illinois will use the coach's initials in the team name if they have a mix. If I had one 99 on my team we would drop the 2000 from our team name. For example Team Energy has a mix and they don't use 2000 in their team name.
IMO it makes a big difference in a team if you have 3 or 4 kids from the older end of an age group, especially when they are the better players on your team.
Maybe I am looking into this to deeply, I just like to be upfront!!!

Bake, first thing is i hate days off with no chores.
The way i look at ages and teams.
Most i think, correct me if i'm wrong, are 2 year teams before moveing up.
2 years at 12's for most kids, some lil younger, some lil older,
So to me a first year 12's would be say girls B- days qualify them for 1999 play -
within that group,,so say 2000's qualify for same play,, one is a first year 12's the other older 12's would be 2nd year ,,same goes for 14's,,16's.
But then when any team that get's in a tourny of say 12u's and dont do good against lil older 2nd year 12's. then they say ''well'' there older then us,,same goes at 14's and 16's.
So again,,if any 12,14 or 16u's play in a tourny,,thats why i think it's best to say that YA, were a first or seconed year team..if not, then no one should ever hear,,OH YA,,were a younger team.
If an 11u,,13u,,15u team play,,we all know what there playing,,12u,,14u, 16u,,according to the birth day,,,hope your not confused because i think i just confused myself
