I thought this would be a good place to get the word out; Midwest Softball Park is donating their fields for the benefit for this young lady...
The tournament is the weekend of August 31 - Sept 2 at Midwest (317-875-8833) with all proceeds going to the Deja Fund.
The following is from the flyer for the tournament:
You might not know Deja Jones, but she could any of our players or even our daughter. She is a very talented softball player, and played with the enthusiasm that we would want all our players to play with. She is 15 years old, and had a very bright future ahead of her, both academically and athletically. Then, out of the blue, she was not feeling well, and after a visit to the doctor last week. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
We have had some great organizations setup to help put on a benefit tournament to help the family offset some of the cost that are involved now and in the future. We, Midwest Sports Complex have donated our facility for the weekend.
The planned events are:
4 game guarantee open sanctioned tournament, with the gate, entry fee (minus umpire fees at reduced cost) going to the Deja Fund
Single elimination corn hole tournament all entry fees going to the Deja Fund
Specialty T-Shirts with all sales going to the Deja Fund
Australian Gold donated sunscreen with all sales going to the Deja Fund
And more as the Fastpitch community comes together.
This tournament might not be in your team fees budget, but I am sure that each of your parents would gladly donate $25 - $30 to cover the entry fee. This is not about how good your team is, or how well they will play. We all understand that each team will just being starting up after tryouts. This is to benefit an awesome kid and family. We have to do this. We have 10 or so committed. Would like to see a team or two from these organizations - Team Indiana, Indiana Shockwaves, Plainfield Rage, Indiana Magic, Indy Crush, Indy Dreams, and whoever I left out.
