Monthly Due Amounts??

What are typical monthly dues for 12u/14u teams in So Cal? What do they cover?

So the equipment is rented? Do some charge registration fee or some type of start-up? I am curious. We were a part of a 10u team last year and I paid roughly $130.00. Not including the $100.00 I was charged for a bag, pants, and one uniform. Oh yes! Conditioning was a separate fee (roughly $20.00 monthly). Was as I just "jacked"? LOL

Anyhow, live and learn I guess---I'll blame my pure ignorance and the fact that I am new to the travel ball scene. Boy! Do I feel dumb! Silly and dumb....

What you describe is normal. Most organizations have a startup fee that is between $150 and $350. You will then have a monthly fee of around $100. You will then have to fork out cash for conditioning, batting cages or team training events. In addition; our team has a weekly batting practice for $10 and it is also mandatory that you see a batting coach once per week on your own $30-$40 per week. This does not include the bats, gloves and other things that your DD needs to play the game. As they get older; will will also have travel expenses for the 3-5 tourneys that take place each year out of our area.

If you add everything up; I can see why you feel "jacked". In reality though; your experience is similiar to most others. One thing that I like in a team is a detailed summary of all the monies and what they were used for. It helps the parents understand what the money was used for and also helps the parents understand all of the costs associated with running a competitive TB team.

Seems that teams that are associated with a facitlity are having to do MANDATORY training/hitting/pitching at their facilities at an additional cost. I know many organizaions that are doing that.

On the flip side, some people are going to those same facilities hoping it will get them on their team...

Our team is not affiliated with a batting cage and/or business but we still have a weekly batting cage session that is mandatory and costs $10 per kid.

$150 start up fee includes first months dues plus $100 for 2 jerseys and a helmet.
$50/month dues plus mandatory fundraising. This pays for entry fees and team bags.
We have to buy our own pants and socks. Several parents got upset when they were told the jerseys were to remain team property so the coach backed off and is allowing the players to keep them.
On top of that I choose to pay on my own $60 a month for conditioning/speed training and $100 a month for pitching lessons.

I know everyone is trying to keep costs down but what kind of jersey's and helmets are you getting for only $100? Also, every organization I have heard from keeps the uniforms if you leave. Interesting though and thank you Imperial Dad.
