Just curious if any one knows the update on the arrest of Mike Smith the pitching coach. I find it interesting that with others in this situation the thread was long and with him it quickly went away.

His case goes to trial July 2. His bail was lowered to $750,000, but he is still in custody. You can find info. from Rancho Cucamonga Superior Courts website.

and just for the record this is not Mike Smith who coaches for the 16U So Cal Athletics it is Mike Smith the pitching coach who is around 70 years old.

With so many Mike Smiths in So Cal softball, its hard to keep track. This is also not the Mike Smith that was one time coach at Cal Baptist, now McNeese State, wanted to be UC Riverside head coach.

Was the Mike Smith involved once associated with the Minors Gold organization, and now an independent pitching coach?

To the second part of the OP, that helps explain why there wasn't a protracted bashing like in other cases. He was very close to many on here and was well connected in the So Cal softball community. Hard to bash a friend/acquaintance when many find it hard to believe what he is accused of. It's easy to jump on the band wagon when you don't know the accused.

Which was exactly the same situation with the TNL coach. Those that were close and found it hard to believe however there were the others who bashed and told the ones that found it hard to believe that they were in denial, bad parents. etc. Just curious why in this situation the thread completely stopped and then what had happened.

Pehaps the fact that it is a Pitching coach giving lessons in a warehouse vs the head of a whole organization

So that makes it more OK and less news worthy of discussion.
