IMO, at the 8U/ first year 10U level, no need to go seraching for different organizations. The organization is not as important as the individual coaches who will oversee your daughter's development 2-3 times per week for 4 months. In that vein, a lot to be said for 1234 suggesting that you find some good professional development, whether in addition to or outside of rec ball. Likewise, even for All Stars, it is the coach, not the organization, that will develop good or bad habits in your child. Make sure that you work with her a lot! Most rec balls teams at that level have only 1 or 2 good players per team. If she makes All Stars this year, great! Enjoy it, learn from it, experince first hand who has the best All Star teams and then make your decision for the following year as to whether to try Travel. Pehaps there is a league close by that will allow your daughter to play "up' to the next age level, which will give her a taste of bigger and better players. Dending on how she does, make a more informed decision from there. Remember, everyone starts off in rec ball; just a matter of how long the really good players stick around. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
