I'm confused, probably haven't had enough to drink yet, but are you asking when are TB players allowed to practice during HS season, or when can HS teams practice?
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Number One,

I would really read the rule for myself on this one. I have heard differing things on this. I have heard that even practicing with your TB team during the HS season forces the HS teams to forfeit all regular season games.

Then I have heard that you may practice but not play any games (umpires or not). With the cost being so high for being wrong, I would pull out the rule book and read it for myself.

I don't think any HS coach would give you an OK to practice with a TB team due to the implications and issues that can arise. Most teams go dark for games anyway.

It really makes me laugh on the things people think they know when in reality they no nothing. As a HS coach let me explain the rule.
You can practice TB as much as you wish. You may not play in any ORGANIZED TB play once you have played in an organized scrimmage or game during your HS softball season. Certain HS will do this in Early Feb to keep you away from playing on your TB team. HS that do not start organized play until late Feb or March you may continue with TB as normal.
You may not play in any organized games with TB during HS season. It does not say Umpire present that is up for debate. Basically stay away from anything involving more then one team with your TB team during HS season. The rule of you not being allowed to Coach your HS players in TB is no longer. There is a black out date for HS coaches coaching there HS kids on Sundays (CIF Rule) it is only several weeks or during CIF play.

San Diego is the exeption No TB contact period of any kind. You may take personal Fielding and hitting lessons though....

That is what I thought but Big D from Santiago told me different..

Whoever "Big D" is, he's wrong. CIF has no retsrictions against practice at ANYTIME. There is a restriction against outside competition during the season of sport, which is generally interpreted to mean no umps. But practice is fine.

The one exception to Big D's "wrongness" would be the San Diego section (Is Santiago located in that section?) In their enduring wisdom and in an attempt to demonstrate that we do TOO know more than a kid's parents, those running the San Diego section of CIF have mandated that a kid is resticted from ANY outside sports practice during CIF play. So far as I know, if a kid takes musical lessons outside of his school choir or band, that's fine in San Diego. Parental discretion. But if the kid is playing sports, we'll tell you how to parent and manage your kid's time, than you very much. So if "Big D" lives in the San Diego area, he's right. But should also know enough to know his situation is unique.

You'll often hear people say that TB practice is OK on Sunday, but no other day. Also wrong. I think this is an outgrowth from the CIF rule forbidding HS practice or play on Sundays, meaning that TB teams can schedule a practice which doesn't conflict for anyone with their HS play. But the CIF rule is a mandate restricting HS play, and has nothing to do with when Club practice is allowed.

See sections 310, 600, and 511 in the bylaws.

Regarding the San Diego section restricting practice during CIF I believe soccer fought that and got it overturned, but only for their sport.

Its rumored that the Southern Section will adopt this rule.
