Taking Odds on Worth Cup Rain Out

by dodgerblue » Mon Jan 23, 2012 12:43 pm

Yahhh.... 200 bucks per game for a glorified friendly... well worth it! Sota had five? the koolaid has been good to him. I call bulls#it card.

So they did this so we don't get a refund? Wasn't it at least a 4 game minimum? It was supposed to be a tournament not a friendly. Everyone one that I was talking to were saying it was a waste of time because the games had no meaning. In fact there was an empty field and 4 teams ready to play but couldn't because a team didn't show. I don't think to many people would've really been upset if you called it. They could've stayed home and watched the NFL playoffs.

DBM you don't know me I don't think, maybe you do but I can see where my post might have come across being a little harsh. Bottom line is I do have a sense of humor and I was joking about saying don't be a quitter. I saw a hat once that said rehab is for quitters and I thought that was funny. No one was forced back to play and I was real happy our team got games in. I had many people come to me during the day very happy they got games in as well. As for SCF just doing it for the money I would have to disagree with that. They always return money for games not played minus a small percent, it says it on the web site. It is impossible to make everyone happy and the teams who traveled the longest distance Washington one of them was thrilled SCF got them a few games in Sunday.

As for some teams getting more games it was because once the new rainout schedule was posted a few teams decided to go home. It did not give SCF much time to find teams to fill in. I am sure if you would have called and said can we have any extra games if any are available like some teams did your team may have had the same opportunity. My team played three.

Years ago I was the first one ready to stand up and fight at the drop of a dime. If things didn't go the way I thought they should go you were going to hear about it. Now I let the little things in life go and it keeps the blood pressure down. I enjoy being on the field for one game or five games. I enjoy watching my team and daughters play and I am thankful for softball keeping us all together. I have friends who have teenage daughters that don't play sports and those kids act like they don't care if their dad was alive unless he opens up his wallet for them as they are running out of the house. So spending time with the family this weekend and seeing friends and getting some BS in for me is priceless.

I personally want to thank Don Minard for all the hard work he does for the softball world. If you all knew what he does for all of us to get games in no one with there head on straight would complain, well some still would unfortunately. Thanks Bret and Ron for all you do as well and everyone else who helps..

Well said.

My DD and her team played 3 games on Sunday. She was happy not to play in sketchy weather on Saturday, but was thrilled to play Sunday. We all had a great time (with commute times that ranged from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours each way), as did the teams and parents across the diamond.

I cant think of a better way to have spent my Sunday. If the coach of my kid's team felt they overpaid by $50, I will happily give it to them.

Thanks for not calling it.

First off, as I do the scheduling, this is the first I have heard of that a team did not show up. Would love to know who that team was for future reference. Every team at Diamond showed up to play.

Secondly, teams will be receiving a refund. I am not sure of the dollar amount.

Thirdly, as to Sota playing 5 games, I want to personally thank Anthony for picking up the extra 2 games as we did not know until Saturday evening that 4 teams had gone home. This was a major problem on all three field locations. Teams went home without letting us know until early Saturday evening, well after the first revision of the schedule had been posted. I had to find multiple teams to play extra games so that all teams would get their 3 games in. Thanks go to Firecrackers Araujo, Diamonds Zappia, So Cal Pumas, Worth FC and the So Cal Athletics for doing so on such late notice.

Fourthly, as to a glorified friendly, there is no doubt that there were many teams looking to play in a tournament format. Mother nature took care of that on Saturday. DBM and dodgerblue, you too obviously should have stayed home and watched the NFL playoffs and kept your daughter's at home if that is how you feel about playing softball. Most of us play for the love of the game and to keep working on getting better. I know the 10+ college coaches I spoke with were happy they did not waste a whole weekend without getting any recruiting done. I also know that the Washington Ladyhawks, Arizona Storm and Desert Thunder were all ecstatic that we did not cancel it. They were also very appreciative of us redoing the schedules so that they could play there games on Sunday and still make their flights/drive home early enough in the afternoon.

You can never please everyone all the time. I am sure if the tournament was canceled completely, then people would have been complaining that the fields were playable and yet we canceled games or they would complain about a refund policy or they would complain about this or that. Would love to know which teams DBM and dodgerblue are part of. I am sure their head coach would just love to know the type of parents they have on their team posting negative comments on Heybucket over and over.

Central Ca Krush is one of the teams glad we played on Sunday. This was our last weekend together before we go dark, and a good chance to see how we match up agianst So Cal. teams.
FYI - we are very excited about our 2012 Summer team.

Thanks agian for a great day of softball.

First off I'm just playing around most of the time I come on here to get people rattled up. Relax we played and it was good to get work in so don't make threats and call names. Everyone is too sensitive these days. :(

NAPOLEON! YOU CANT BE SERIOUS?

I was messing around a bit, then someone took it personally, now the boys in the club have joined in, and DAD says, we cant post anything other than a positive remark or opinion, or he will tell our coaches.... and I'm the JACKASS? Last I checked, we still lived in a democracy, and fairly positive freedom of speech is still part of our constitution.

I like you, you speak from the heart Tony, not so sure about others in your organzation. I too have a sense of humor. Sorry if I offended you, or "ANYONE" I to love hanging with my daughter, including the bonding time in the car, as well as the simple preparation to leave, I have coached baseball, softball, high school ball, travell teams, I get the bonding and I too love the game. For me, there are plenty of other ways I do and bond with my family, and time is precious. I think sometimes, people tend to get a bit carried away with the "only softball all the time thing" I believe it is more about them, than the girls. Not pointing a finger, just an obsevation.

Oh, and if I have indeed won some sort of heybucket dickhead co- award, when can I expect it, and will there be a ceremony?
