Just a quick come back on bracky's comment on Angels - Allen taking time to get PGF berth , That's because they EARNED IT , so go ahead and put a note next to each team and let us all know how they got their berth - Earned ,freebie , or an under attended tourney , it would have been a whole different story if ALL the teams had to play to get a berth.

I agree! Corona Angels Allen earned their berth.

Well I'm done with the last 14U poll. Only need to finish 16U.

Good luck to everyone going to Midland - where we really need the Choppers, AAthletics to step up and represent So. Cal with SD Power Surge 96. Because ASA runs a proper tournament format for 14U I expect Power Surge to be a contender for the overall title, while both the Choppers and Athletics should make it to Saturday night.

Premier Nationals is a little light on teams and the bracket draw will have a tremendous impact on who will be the champion. I believe there are 5 serious contenders, but an additional 3-5 teams have the ability to win it with a decent draw.

PS. I really wish there was only one Nationals for 14U. I believe ASA had it right for 14U - as during the last 4 years the best teams ended up making the finals. Note I said the best "teams" not the best "pitcher" with a couple of bats. With 150+ teams with pool play counting ........ it takes a team to win it all. Premier is set-up under the 18 Gold format (win 5 for 14U & win 6 for 18U) that you only really need one hot pitcher.

I agree Bracky. Call me crazy but I am choosing to attend 12u Nationals in Montgomery and skip beautiful HB with the older one for premier. Call me old fashion but most of our greatest softball memories were spent in Alabama, Illinois and Florida surrounded by all the wonderful teams from California and rooting for the last few left on Sunday. Many great friendships and experiences were made with my team and many on other teams. I have been lucky to have always made the trip with amazing girls, teams and coaches and I am sure that helped make them great times.

Thats what Nationals is all about for me and our family. 72 or more teams from all over the country is an amazing experience. Sadly this will probabley be my last trip to a non California National tourney for awhile. Hoping we go out with a Big Bang. Good luck to all attending.

Bracky said his final poll is not rankings it is 3 groups A, B & C of which he feels that these teams, that he grouped into those catagories have a chance at doing anything significant in the 2 different Nationals. I think???? Any ways here is his quote

Will update all polls before ASA & Premiere:

It's going to be tough to predict who will win it for Premiere – as the smaller the field the harder it is to predict. ASA will be a bit easier as there are a handful of teams that seem to dominate their area this year.

Will group teams by:

1. Favorites = The top 2-3 teams that should make the semifinals regardless of bracket. Sure they will need a bit of luck in a couple of close games – but they will be playing on Sunday.2. Contenders = Good enough to beat a favorite but usually a bit vulnerable/susceptible to other Contenders and Spoilers.
3. Bracket Dependent Contenders = Need a weak bracket to give them an easy road to playing on Sunday in the Winners bracket. 4. Spoilers = good enough to wreck a bracket with an upset or two but not strong enough to win it.

Ocwildcat mom - I think you misunderstood Amerpast1's post. I think he was just wanting to let Bracky know that under their listing, there is no mention of them being ASA and Premier qualified. His girls worked hard to earn those berths and feels they should be mentioned. I think there are others that also may have that overlooked in their listing but its a lot of work for Bracky so it is understandable. Good job AP and good luck.

Thanks for the reminder - I completely forgot about the berth to Premier in Nor Cal must be the added pressure from the 16U crowd!
