Orthopedic Surgeon in So Cal?

Does anyone reccomend a good Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in sports injuries in the So Cal area that takes HMO's? Any input would be appreciated.

Their is a guy at The Orange County Othropedic & Rehab on Main St in Orange, he was a pro baseball player, a pitcher, he's great for shoulders rehab.......everyone goes to this guy for shoulder...........

The problem lies in that you have an HMO insurance plan, if I am reading your post right. In an HMO it is very difficult to self refer to a orthopedic surgeon. I run into this all the time here at work.

My advice is get a list of the orthopedic surgeons on your HMO. You should be able to search the online database by specialty. Then look on this list for any of the doctors recommended above. If they don't appear then take the list to one of these doctors listed above and ask them for an honest recommendation.

Good luck it is a tough road to go down with an HMO.

Kerlan Jobe is tops when it comes to Orthepedic Surgeons, but I agree with Imperial SB dad you will run into problems with an HMO. All of the Drs. out of Kerlan Jobe also have practices elsewhere you can look up the Drs. on their website and see if any are your HMO list. The Dr. I went to, Dr. James Tibone also works at USC Medical center and he's a great Orthepedic Sugeon, he fixed what another Dr. had botched up. Dr. Yocum is another one that has his own practice, but all the top sports Drs. are at Kerlan Jobe...Good luck in your search....

Dr. Jan Fronek heads the dept. and is the team physician for the Padres. I think they're part of Aetna HMO - sorry, not sure, I'm on PPO. And for PT, you can't beat Shiley Sports Center - overlooks Torrey Pines Golf Course and beautiful sunsets to view while working out.
