The Truth!!! I"m glad someone finally let me know what was up, and that we were just "Scared" to play in the tournament, with all the great teams from Southern California.
I was told it was because, the tournament we ended up in, did not have enough teams to field it and had a team coming from Hawaii. And that a favor was asked of our team if we would particiapate to help their visit be more memorable. I'm sure it wasn't about the trading pins and gifts we gave the Hawaii team, to make their girls feel special on their visit. Or the BBQ they had on the last day and brought food over for the girls, in a way of saying thanks.
However you put it, my daughter enjoyed meeting new kids and hopefully they felt the same.
It's great when you can put aside what tournament you should be in, what team you should be on, what team is better than the rest. It's great when you're not worried about the fallout of pulling out of a tournament, because someone might think your dodging them or scared. It's great when you do what's good for the game of softball and girls other that your own.
This tournament was about the Hawaii team, nothing else.
Play with Honor, Live with Honor.
