What age should college exposure be considered

For all of you seasoned vets out there I have a question. My DD is on what I would consider a good travel program as a 2nd year 14-U. I am being told that most college programs are not even looking at the graduating class of 2014 yet so it would be a waste of time & money to persue expsoure tournaments.
Would appreciate all opinions.

Well I thought they would be and sorry my original post wasn't to clear, my DD will be the class of 2015 so with that information now is it a waste of money and travel to go chasing exposure tournaments at this age? I have been told both ways but majority says its a waste. Again just looking for opinions here.

Unfortunately in this day and age many of the D1 programs are looking at 13's / 14's / 15's / and even 16's believe it our not.. OnDeck softball is bringing these ages to their camps as requested by these D1 programs also..

I am not a fan of the early verbal like most involved but its hard to fight when they come after your DD and the school is one of her top 2 or 3 ..

So to answer your Q ,, 14's and 15' should be exposed to showcases ..

Again ,, so i don't get beat up on HB ,, Im not a fan of the early verbal but went through it with a freshman..

A good second year 14 team should sign up a for a few 16U showcases. The girls should start sending a few brief letters to schools that they are interested in.

Slaper Ace: I think every player and situatation is unique. If she can handle the level of competition physically and mentally and it will help her get better, then go for it. If she's a pitcher and she's good but not good enough where she will get lit up and it could destroy her confidence, then bad idea.

My daughter was starting her HS sophomore year when she went from 14u to 18u Gold and it was the smartest thing we could have done. Gave her 1 full season of playing with the best (I also did not expect any college offers, nor did she receive any), but this allowed us and her to get used to playing in show cases and in front of scouts. So now she has 1 season of experience and has 2 seasons to show the scouts what she has.

It was a bit early when we came through, when they were looking at sophomores and getting commitments early in the junior year.

Now it's just gone crazy.
