Try "accidently/incidently" chest bumping one of those underpaid, overworked police officers while you're screaming in his face, then let us know how that worked out for you. Somehow, I doubt that they're going to let this slide based on "the cost involved with following up this action".
I had a strange incident involving someone "invading my space" after a game last week. About twenty minutes after the game, my partner and I were at our cars in the parking lot. An obviously aggitated lady who I've never seen before approaches us and demands to know our names. We give them to her. She walks to her car, about twenty yards away from us, and my partner and I are looking at each other like, "What was that all about?".
I started laughing and said something along the lines of, "Who the "blank" was that "blank?". Yeah, it was probably a rude comment, but it was directed toward my partner in a conversational tone, while the lady was in her car on the other side of the parking lot.
She heard us say "something" and heard us laughing, so she jumps out of her car and begins screaming at us. I turned my back to her and said to my partner, "Just ignore her". Us ignoring her seemed to tick her off even more, and she screamed at us out her car window all the way out of the parking lot.
This lady contacted our league officials to complain about "questionable calls" made during the game (there really weren't any) and about our "rough treatment" of her husband- the coach of the losing team- who we had to crack down on a couple of times for arguing about calls.
She also claimed that we were rude to her in the parking lot. As it turns out, she didn't even hear the rude comment I made- just heard us say "something" and laugh about it. All I told our league officials was that if this lady hadn't been accosting us in the parking lot in the first place we never would have had the opportunity to be rude to her and that if she didn't want to hear "locker room talk" then it would be in her best interest to stay the heck away from what was, essentially, our "locker room".
If you "accidently" bump someone during an argument, then you were too close to them to begin with. And if don't confront officials in the parking lot, you'll never have to worry about them being rude while you're confronting them!
