Congratulations to the So Cal Hurricanes on winning the 23U National Championship this past weekend in Sterling, Virginia, breaking the three year streak of Championships by the Virginia Legends. The Hurricanes beat the Legends 11-2 in the final game to clinch their 3rd National Championship in the past 6 years ( 2 at the Womens Majors and 1 at 23U).
The Hurricanes roster included Aleah Macon (Washington/TBD), Lindsey Sisk (Arizona/Texas A&M), Michelle Tait (Pacific/TBD), Mel Roth (Louisville), Megan Langenfeld (UCLA), Niki Williams (Washington), Amanda Kamekona (UCLA), Jen Griffin (Long Beach), Bianca Mejia (Long Island), Brooke Smart (Tulsa), Jessica Bracamontes (Michigan State), Megan Denio (Long Beach), Rachel Miller (Davis), and Lindsey Marquez (Cerritos JC).
Special congrats to Bianca Mejia who took home numerous awards including MVP, Best Fielder, Highest BA. Other Hurricanes to receive 1st Team All Tournament honors included Aleah Macon, Mel Roth, Megan Langenfeld, Jessica Bracamontes and Megan Denio.
The Legends roster included many top college players including Nikki Nemitz (Michigan), Ashton Ward (Tennessee/Virginia Tech), Sarah Hamilton (FSU), Ashlynn Williams (Troy), Megan Bush (Florida), Corrie Brooks (Florida), Alicia Sisco (Florida), Kristine Priebe (Florida), Dorian Shaw (Michigan), Jen Lapicki (Tennessee/FSU) and Rachel Mitchell (LSU) among others.

The Canes are coached by Woody Wilk, Ken Bailey and Jim Jimenez. A special thanks goes out to Don Brannan, GM for the Canes, who without his generous support this team would not have the chance to compete year in and year out.

Congrats to the Canes, and all the coaches who gave their time and hard work putting a team like that together. Had to be tough with USA putting three teams together at the same time. Nice job!!

Congrats for the Hurricanes. But I need to ask, when is the last time a hurricane hit California? Shouldn't it be the Landslides or Brush Fires or Earthquakes
