Gentlemen with kids playing in college...what does your DD say about strength and conditioning training in comparison to their days in travel? (I know about HS...they really do not do anything significant there )?

My DD's experience (frosh at DIII). Fall semester - Weight room 6:30am three days a week. It is an Olympic strength program that works the large muscles - core, trunk, legs. So power cleans, bulgarian split squats and a lot of other stuff that I don't even know what it is. The strength coach came out of the Pac-12 so it mirrors what most DI's are doing. The program is tailored for each sport and gender. On the other two days of the week, it is conditioning at 7:30am, meaning you are on the track and running. Mix of distance, agility, and gassers. It way surpasses anything she did in HS or TB, and my kid was a pretty serious gym rat on her own. On the plus side, she's lost 15lbs (and she wasn't chubby to start), gained 0.2s on her home to first, and has added a lot of strength. They are tested twice a semester for strength, speed, and endurance - woe to she who fails (and I'm not sure I could pass).
No one, especially college kids, likes to get up at dark-thirty and hit the gym but DD is now a believer. BTW - they sent her the work outs the summer before she showed up, and they tested the first week of the fall semester.
