Interesting article. Stereotypes all pitching coaches based on "research." Doesn't say what research, how it was done, or even who performed it. Thank god the author didn't recommend how to find the right coach for your DD....since all pitching coaches apparently suck.

I know examples of each of the types listed and in all cases, there are great ones and not so good ones in each example. I know some former collegiate pitchers who are terrible coaches and some who are great. I know some "back yard coaches" who are great and some who are terrible. I know some former male fastpitch pitchers who are great and some who are awful.

The bottom line is to look at that pitching coach's former students and how they are doing. Let your daughter take a few lessons and see if the coach's approach seems to work.

It's like anything else. You have to be smart enough to do your research. It's a free country and if something doesn't appear to be working, you have the ability to walk away.

I'm not sure where the inspiration for this article came from. Seems the author has an ax to grind.
