Age verifications and Background checks, requiring personal information will be performed on a securely protected site.
Once a member of your team has been verified and approved, your official roster will be the only thing required to show at PGF sanctioned events. If a person is not approved, they will not be listed on the roster.
The Head Coach may monitor his/her roster at their convenience. It is suggested that each person inputs their own personal information into the system. The Head Coach must first establish the team page and then every other member may go into the site to input their information.
You will have to create a new userid and password for this site. It will not be the same userid and password that you use for the main PGF site.
Key facts about PGF Team/League Insurance :
PGF insurance covers you for practice and play in any association. Insurance coverage follows the team, not the individual. If a player/coach leaves your team and joins a Non-PGF insured team, then they will no longer have coverage.
Each Player/Coach will be covered for Excess Accident Medical Coverage in the amount of $250,000, with a $500 deductible
Each Team will be covered for Comprehensive General Liability in the amount of $1,000,000 each occurrence, $2,000,000 general aggregate.
Additional insured certificates are available at no additional charge.
PGF Insurance will be required for all PGF sanctioned events. All coaches and umpires will be required to purchase insurance and obtain background checks.

Remember, while some other insurance policy's limit your coverage to their sanctioned events, your PGF insurance will cover you in whatever association you wish to partipate with.

Note to all PGF Umpires:

All Umpires who work PGF sanctioned events must purchase insurance and obtain a background check through the PGF insurance program.

How is it any different than the ASA / Bollinger insurance requirement?

Why do I have to buy supplemental insurance at all, if we already have insurance?

Does the Bollinger insurance cover the player in any sanction with any team?

Because this appears to cover the team, and it's players as a subset, so that if a player plays with a non-PGF team then they will not be covered. (Examples might be picking up with a team to play in the Pennsbury Academic Recruiting Camp, or playing in the Adidas Futures tournament.)

With this insurance, if a player switches teams to another PGF team, does the insurance follow her?
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

I'm not pointing fingers at either group, but the players are definitely getting scammed. Each group (ASA and PGF) is requiring every player to be covered with excess insurance. Neither recognizes the other - but they are THE EXACT SAME COVERAGE! That's right, we are essentially paying 2 premiums for 1 policy.

The worst part is that I know the ASA policy says it covers all players and coaches even in non-ASA events, so the ASA/Bollinger policy is in effect when a team plays PGF. It may very well be the same for the PGF policy, I just don't know the answer to that.

There is simply no rational explanation for requiring this. I'm not anti-PGF. In fact, I think 95% of what they've done is great, but as ASA was around and had a policy in place that PGF knew about, it seems that PGF put this on the teams. I'm not sure why PGF couldn't acknowledge that a valid ASA card shows the player is covered. [However, I'm certainly willing to acknowledge I might not know all the facts].

You are essentially correct, the ASA individual registration does cover the teams when they play in other sanctions. It also covers individual players that pick up (also called "guest" in some areas) with other teams (as long as the team they pick up with is also ASA individually registered). It only fails to cover players that play on non-ASA teams in non-ASA events. The ASA insurance program was expanded to the universal individual coverage over prior team policies to meet the request of the USOC, which wanted that coverage mandated by all its' NGB's (National Governing Bodies). So, the players and teams are absolutely covered by the ASA policy.

However, the ASA umpire insurance does NOT cover them in non-ASA events, like PGF, or any other association. So, that coverage may be necessary/important for some (although many DO have OTHER policies that do cover universally, like NASO). The background check is duplicative; in fact, run by the same agency!!

Other than the most often thrown-out answer that it is a money source for PGF (which is likely true, but may not be the driving factor), or meeting the needs of it's teams (which is less likely, given the universal coverage of ASA), the other reason stated before by PGF is that it was told by the SoCal ASA poobahs that they (SoCal ASA) would/could keep any claims from being covered. This, of course, was total BS if it was stated, since Bollinger and its' insuror (Markel) are bound by the policy terms, even if a vocal part of their client objected.

They must think they know who you are, by just your name and birthday. I though have a very common name and asa called me and asked me for my middle name and ss# in order for me to pass my background check. So I guess if they need it they will call you!!!

As for the insurance goes, I think ASA is the way to go, its pretty cheap and works where ever you go. Its PGF that sounds greedy, they must have a good "kickbacks" set with there insurance company
