Two miles may not seem far to most of us but remember we are talking about an island 13.5 miles long and a little over 2 miles wide. In that small space is a lot of diversity and with so many people, as well as sturtures,packed into such a small space two miles can seem much further. But it will still be a great experience.....new york new york is an exciting place to visit and so much more then just manhatten.

2.3 miles in NY is an eternity- it is also on an island without subway service or walkable alternative(you would not walk through those neighborhoods anyway)..It may be 2.3 miles as the crow flies(to the upper rim of central park) No one in NYC would ever consider Randalls island anywhere near central park.

Sorry Surfside but I have to agree with Jon on this one. City miles (be they NY or Chitown) are very different especially when there is NOWHERE to park that big rig carrying all your gear and coolers. Drop off your DD and you could drive for more than 1 mile to find a spot and these are not the neighborhoods you want to wander around in. If parking was included that would be better but...I wouldn't count on it. I do hope this tourney makes it for all invested. I know that Grant Park in downtown Chicago has many available fields but renting them out for a tourney would be very cost prohibitive. Good luck!

Well, I am not a big "New York" fan. I do not see this as an option for a family vacation in todays economic world (I would not send my daughter to the city alone with the team to New York city)! Plus, all the other reasons as far as location, parking, transportation etc.... I would also think college coaches unless heavily attended by the big programs, will not be there in big numbers. So at the end of the day you have spent a small fortune and maybe had a good time visiting the city and had the chance to play on CBS, I am still not sure it would be worth it if you are attending all the other summer events. Maybe too much! Not sure if I would be excited if daughters team signed up to go! That city is just another planet!

I heard they have a shuttle service from the hotels to the fields, no rental cars needed. Picks you up out front of your hotel and drops you off at the field. Sounds pretty slick
