The cost to play 18 Gold

No it wasn't aimed at anyone. Uno posted a few team names and prices. This interested me. Then a few ppl, yourself included put "Houston area/Central Time Zone/SoCal/Chicago". I was just asking why ppl would not put their team names is all. It was a question, nothing more, nothing less.

No worries, it didn't bother me. I thought location might be useful and I wasn't going to name teams.

My daughter's team wasn't "Gold", but they played showcases. We went as far north as NJ and as far south as SC. There was no flying. We did pay for two hotel rooms every weekend for the coaches. We paid $150 a month for 8 months. There were also numerous fundraisers. The uniforms are handed down each year, so we didn't have that expense. We did a fundraiser to buy a new set though. We paid for our own travel and hotels.

Three choices:
Cut the players that don't pay.
Ask the other parents if they are willing to absorb the additional costs.
Eat the losses.

Painful... Of all things, don't let them string you along. If they are part of the IPHONE generation - Suzy shows up with a new iphone 5 and a tattoo while they owe you $300 in startup costs - cut them and find new players. If not and they are genuinely financially strapped, it's always your call but one suggestion is to provide them with opportunities to earn it - setup fields, run errands, whatever u don't want to do. They should be willing to help in any way if they are genuine - not just talk but action.

I can say from experience that if you don't deal with it the team will fall apart - happened to the first TB team DD played on. On another team, if you weren't current on your dues and hadn't worked it out with the manager, your kid wasn't going to be playing and if it happened in the spring, she wasn't getting released off the ASA roster either.

No one is paying?
She may want to start looking around because a team won't last very long without funds.

If say half the parents are supporting all the others, was this explained ahead of time? What does the coach say? Sounds like a crazy situation, that many kids on one team that don't pay.

But then again, it's a lot like the UNited States right now, and Obama might get reelected, so...
