Someone does not agree with you they are not patriotic???? Look- I do not agree with Harvard on their past ROTC stance-they certainly were not alone.-but it was decided by a VOTE- their decision

Saying someone is more patriotic because they go to texas instead of Harvard- lower SATs maybe?? Lower patriotism is just silly

My guess i given the choice- the US Army would take a Harvard grad over a Texas grad

BTW- the Harvard guy was number 1 in our ROTC advance course class

Back to the original point noted... I am sure there was one somewhere... When DD was being scouted and courted the primary focal point of coaches was #1, SAT's. #2, GPA. #3. ACT's.

Most of the inquiries were from more eastern locals. I have no idea if that is typical. I can tell you of one instance where DD was playing in a west coast tourney with the obligatory sheets on the backstop. Coach of an east coast, Boston flavor university whom I shall not name but only state that that have a "YARD" named after them... as in ____ARD YARD... walked up scouting another girl on our team. She looked at the sheet, ran down the list, and said "who's that and where is she". It was DD. What caught her eye (she stated to our coach later) was the 4.37GPA and 2170 SAT's. ACT's were not a point of influence. Don't know why. Don't care. That was just reality for us.

Are their liberals at Harvard-of course- I would bet because of it's sheer size their are numerically more liberal at the University of Texas- better watch out Joe!!!!

I'm much more interested about your value system that teaches a DD that large salaries and fat wallets are "better" than patriotism, honesty, and loyalty. How can you justify such values?

Joe-Whenever your argument loses steam (which is as soon as you type it) you start another one. Why not just let go and move on. As long as the girls are being educated do you really feel the need to demean where or how that is happening? Until you financially contribute to the education of anyone your opinion is just that....yours. Keep it to yourself and stop insulting the choices made by others.

For your information I recieved a scholarship to play volleyball in college and my oldest DD has recieved a scholarship to play softball andi neither one of us took the SAT. She attended a very prestigious high school and a graduation requirement was the ACT plus Writing not the SAT. Those were taken if neccessary. If a school wants you to take the SAT you take it....if they want you to take the ACT you take it. This arguement is as assinine as Joe is!

I was talking to a friend this weekend at CC when a college coach walked up and we all started chatting amongst each other, when out of the blue the college coach says "It always concerns me when a 2012 does not have a SAT score".

This is to Coaches and Parents to get your kids to take the SAT or at the least Post your SAT score(Good or BAD). Then the Coaches at least have something to work with, if you don't have your SAT scores Coaches start thinking your trying to hide something.

Better to have it and not need it, then it is to need it and not have it. The TBA is not working well with the Coaches.

Ok it might be kind of picky, but what you say in your quotes above is absolutely impossible. If you sent 4 kids to college in the last 8 years they could not possibly have all scored over 2000 on the SAT test. Based on your timeline, your first kid would have scored 2000+ 10 years ago. Up until 5 or 6 years ago the SAT test had a max score of 1600.
