On the topic of SoCal States....when will they start posting the list of entered teams. I want to say they posted it much earlier than this last year. I know the usual suspects will be there, but a publicized list that includes several teams that should be playing the Quicksilver Classic would make for interesting conversation on the Bucket. JMO.

If you are saying there are teams that shouldn't play State I don't agree. I am always amazed at the teams that play all year long and then "give up" in May and bypass the Socal State tournament. Why not come out and see how you measure up against all of the competition? Isn't that what all the work was for?

As to the curse, is the idea then to lose the championship game? What a hoot it would be to get CA vs. AH and both are trying to throw the game (without being too obvious about it!)


But then again, have the teams that finished 2nd or 3rd at states fared better at nats?

And I suggest a HB tee to anyone with the time and energy to research that one!!

We won So Cal States last year, took 12 to Nationals, lost a key player to family matters and placed 9th. Since the long time coach was moving back down we brought on a new coaching staff this fall and disbanded before Thanksgiving due to disagreements with the new coach.

That's a curse!

Although everyone has moved on to different teams, my kid still wishes she could be playing with those girls, they were the best, the parents were awesome and the original coaches taught them to trust themselves, had faith in them and brought out the best in the girls without ever having to raise their voices.

OC Wildcats...still proud of our association with that team, parents and coaches. It is not often in travel that you are on a team that has the standard they had. It was one of those teams that you want your DD on. Hope the one we're on now comes close.

Is this really true?

Can anyone recall a State Champion who has won Nationals in any division any year?

Mark Campbell's USA Athletics: 10u in 2001 & 14U in 2005.

DD's team won 12U state in 2004 (7th Nationals) & 16U in 2007 (3rd Nationals).

It's a hard twofer to pull off.

The Reid twins were there in 2005 for 14U. Dre Harrison was there for the 10U and 12U national champion but was on Haning's Batbusters in 2005.
