Firecracker Batbuster tourney!

What's on your mind?

by exD1dad » Mon Jun 16, 2014 8:25 pm

Well Southpaw I'd say a 2014 Prius & 2014 KIA SUV (both with leather seats, clean, bottled water, no extra fee for DW & DD & a choice of music) compared to any taxi I've taken in LA, NYC, Philly, DC, Baltimore, Boston San Fran or Houston would in my book be considered both luxury & with the cost far below normal taxi's ....so if you haven't been where I've been please take my word for it. They do have suburbans & continentals that cost more for the high rollers :D

The fact that they haven't made a profit in over 100 cities is meaningless as it is a worldwide venture backed by fat cats/hedge fund types . When you gather the info they do & I'm sure it will be shared (like everything else) with other industries it is truly the wave of the future on many levels

Not sure with the fees they are paying would consider the "Buster" teams for the "mass" market :D

One of the big developing markets in both finance and luxury is what is known as the "mass affluent" (just to confuse things a little more)

As ffar as Tony Rico- still not sure why so many care. If you don't like, don't buy. Moere power to him, obviously someone thinks its worth something.

BTW- how much does everyone think he is making on these deals(after expenses etc....) thousands, tens of thousands etc.... It has been my experience that most people tend to over estimate most of these things

Thanks JR for once again chiming in on a topic that you know nothing about, being 3k miles away.

Rico sells his org based on several things, including himself, past experience and success of the kids that have played for him, and the moral superiority of being a FC. The problem is that while he insists that his players be held to a standard of honor, he doesnt hold more than a few of those to which he has licensed his brand to the same standard.

Really??? I thought it was about softball, and bragging rights
Let's face the facts, if a kid can play well and can carry decent grades the coach does not care about their morals.
Sometimes they don't care about the grades at all, they only care about winning. Whether on the field or by sheer number.
The honor thing is like that commitment thing, a lot of hot air. It's an honor to wear their uniform, now be committed.
Sure he (or they) have some great teams, they also carry weaker teams, those weaker teams carry the name brand just to say they are a **********. It is an ego thing for parents. They all can't be great.

OTB I said earlier that I did not know the parties involved. What I do know is that people have choices and obviously many have made the choice to buy. You obviously don't agree with that choice(that's your choice)

Maybe you think he sold out(maybe he did) Who knows, why would you care?

My guess is that the teams and players that have bought are trying to buy credibility that goes with the name brand

Let us consider talent like,,,,,,whiskey.
There is only so much talent in the bottle. (talent pool) (and only one bottle)
At some point you are going to have to water down some drinks for the folks., if you are throwing a big party.
It may pay to drink alone, or with just a couple friends. ;)

Just for clarification Bruce does not collect money from his other teams.
Carry on as you were.

Thanks SpazDad clarification noted!

SouthPaw dad to clarify something else it is not 50 a head either. I also heard their are other top organization from So Cal that aren't charging teams here but are charging teams for their name in other parts of the country
