Houston Baptist has a pair of sisters who are sizzling at the plate. Junior Lauren Schwirtlich ranks second nationally with a .529 batting average, while freshman Kirsten is No. 1 with 1.86 RBIs per game.

They arent smiling but this is last night. They could have used some of those stats in the second game. Like they say, stats dont win games, runs do.

Edited to add: Thats DD1 at 3rd, she had tripled as I recall, and DD2 is at bat. DD2 struggled yesterday - but they still did intentional walk on her. She is learning how to manage those - but the girls behind here are most definitely making them pay for putting DD2 on base.

They lost the series - run ruled their opponent in the first game, then lost the second game in 9 inning, a major cause of the loss was a umpire missing a force play, calling a runner safe because she wasn't tagged while the fielder had her foot on the base, but the girls team left too many runners on base, the real problem, and let two innings continue that should have ended - and error prolonged them, and a home run in each did the damage. The last game ended 3-1 with two runners on base, and the holder of the 2nd highest batting average in the nation - striking out - her 2nd strikeout this season - to end the game. Very long faces on DD2 and DD1, until wife and I found a yogurt shop a few hours later, and the girls started teasing each other and the grins started coming back.

Well deserved accolades, by far the heart of their team. We played HBU a few weeks ago (split the series 2-1) and both girls are a threat at the plate and in the field as well as speedy on the bases.
