Actually saves some teams money, they can play in a second tournament locally so don't have to pay travel costs. This only applies to teams that would have chased a berth, but they're plentiful in SoCal. And getting better umpires in June - thats got to be worth something.
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

Actually the blues at the HB So Cal qualifier last weekend did a good job at all games I saw. Props to them.

I wasn't criticizing the umpires, somebody else suggested they are better in June, who am I to argue?
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

Heck the umps we had for a high school game a couple weeks ago were pretty good...in 1965...
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
