Just got around to reading this thread.

Wouldn't be interesting if PGF put a team together of "non-eligible players" and challenged the JNT to a shootout?

Now THAT would be competition.

ASA would never agree to that. But just maybe they could face each other up at the Canada Cup??

I think the cost is ok, but they do need to stop the invites and just let the teams that place in the top 13 or whatever that number is. Yes it's going to to the same core of teams but every year other teams are getting in the top 10. What's wrong with having to compete to get in and if you don't qualify then go play in the platinum division. Stop hooking up your friends team because year after year they're stinking it up and you know what teams those are.

I really do think that PGF is giving us alternatives and is not afraid to push back against ASA. Let's not forget PGF is a business and they are out to make money and yes they will serve their own business interest also.

The expansion is probably a direct result of ASA Nationals being in FL. Of course more East coast teams are probably going to try and qualify for ASA Nationals than PGF. And the WC is probably going to have less try and qualify for ASA and more will try to qualify for PGF.

As far as level of competition, did anybody notice that the 16U So Cal A's team took 3rd place at the 18U Gold Nationals, but that same team tied for 13th place at the PGF 16U level. So would you rather have your pick of JNT players from the SCA's 16U team and similar talented teams or would you prefer to have them come from the top 10 finishers from the PGF 18U teams?
