PGF DRAW is going on Now, post here

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by NumeroUno » Sun Jul 29, 2012 8:34 pm

A few years back we played 7 games in Colorado in one day maybe 6, won them all and got to Sunday. The girls were fired up more and more every game, it was a beautiful thing :D

A life learning experience for sure

Excited to see my DD play in PGF however it looks like a little bit of tweeking in the format would be wise. We are going to play the same team in brackets that we are scheduled to play within the first 3 games. California teams playing California teams, lets mix it up a bit. Either way, good luck to everyone. Looking forward to a great week of softball.

You cant protect teams from playing others locally. I like the format. If by luck of the draw you get the same team from pool play, that is probably a good thing for the kids who are not likely to see much of the dirt during bracket play.

Really like the "no protection" and PGF over ASA!

Biggest joke in any type of national championship tournament. Can't wait for CWS, NFL, MLB, NBA, World Cup Soccer etc.... to adapt the PGF blind draw format.... stupid format.

Since there is no real ranking of teams in fastpitch what criteria would you use to seed?
How is protecting teams just based on where they are from a fair system. Why should a team from the midwest get a top CA team just because they are not protected by region?

Easy fix .... group the teams in pools (i.e., no pool has 100% one state teams) and the pool play games count with a draw based on seeding (i.e., no 1 vs. 1 match ups)...... THERE IS NO REASON FOR POOL PLAY GAMES THAT DON'T COUNT... sorry ASA has them ....there called "practice games".

PGF does alot of things correct but the national championship tournament format is a JOKE.

PS. If you don't have enough teams to ensure there is not one pool with 100% from one state... you no longer can call it a national championship tournament.

That is what the coaches have asked for and both sanctions accommodated their wishes.

I think Gold is the only division in ASA where the pool games don't seed you. But IMHO that isn't really the answer either. Luck of the draw is just part of the game.

I like the way the NCAA March Madness brackets are done.

4 groups of 16 = 64 teams

rank teams 1-16 in each group

or go back to pool play having a meaning

or leave it alone and shut up and play ball :)
