Questions and discussions involving PGF

by Gary Haning » Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:37 pm

We first would like to thank everyone who has commented or concerned themselves with PGF for the first two years of existence. Your posts good or bad provide us with information and in many cases have helped to decide what we do. This is obviously a work in progress and we are continuing to find ways to improve.

We had out first post Natonals meeting on Tuesday and set up meetings to deal with specific topics. I will post some information as we now know it and will post more as we make changes, or not, to areas of concern.

First to the insane notion that this year was the final Premier Nationals, that is ridiculous. We feel that the tournament was a big success again overall and we did not start this and nearly kill ourselves throughout June, July and part of August to walk away from it.

The dates for next year for 12u will be a week earlier than the other age groups were held this year, the others on the same dates adjusting for the change of calendar July 30-August 4 with a small possibility of having the final games August 5 if we can get more TV. We are as of now undecided about 10u. We have had some discussion about putting the 14u with 12u, we have also discussed starting the 14u on the Wednesday or Thursday before the 16u and 18HS starts. We will decide those issues at our next meeting on September 6.

We have many new places asking about qualifiers, we have to and will do something to clean up the manner in which unused berths are awarded if a qualifer has too few teams.

We have to clean up the roster situation as to making a policy for releasing a player and a final roster deadline that applies to invited as well as qualifying teams.

There are many other things we are trying to improve both for the National Tournaments and for everything leading up to them.

We will say positively that all age groups will be in So Cal at HB, FV and Irvine for at least one more year.

We are open to suggestions and input but would prefer you email such to us as we do not have the time to read this forum every day and it is easier to answer one person if there are not 10 others commenting on the answer and then we have to answer those comments as well.

Any thought of broadening exposure in the Northeast- for a lot of organizations the NJ qualifier appeared to be a secret. any thought of something in New England?

I can answer that for you. There was discussion about a qualifier in the northeast but at the present time (2012), I would expect New Jersey to remain the host. We have been working hard on setting up qualifiers in centrally located areas that will allow for as many teams in surrounding areas to attend and implementing new policies, all which will be posted in the very near future.
