Below are the number of Texas teams registered with USFA for the 2012 season. I am sure there are other teams that are not listed on USFA.

(114) 10U Teams

(117) 12U Teams

There a lot of teams listed as select travel teams that don't really travel. For instance, teams in the DFW area that never play outside of that area. We are in 10u and I would guess that there are only 20-25 true travel teams that actually travel around the state to play.

Do all these teams "travel"? I have no idea. What distance has to be traveled to be classified as a "travel team"?

I am sure if these team registered with USFA they intend to travel sometime during the season.

If you're based in the Houston area, there is really no reason to travel. The only traveling you need to do is to Beaumont for state and Panama City, FL for the USFA World Series.

Although I think there is a lot of grey area about whether a team is rec. or travel at the younger ages in Texas, I do agree there are probably well over 100 teams in each age group.
