CA HS Batting Average Leader hitting 1.355!!

by Trophy Hunter » Wed May 06, 2009 5:34 pm

From Maxpreps, Top Batting Average in CA:

Natalie Guiterrez, So, Alhambra, AB 31, H 42, BA 1.355

Natalie is also the State Leader in OB% at 1.324 :? :?

Wonder who their scorekeeper is??

http://www.maxpreps.com/california/soft ... path=,list

And the state ERA leader is:

Janet Hernandez, Sr, Cathedral City, ERA 0.00, W-L 1-8!
including losses by 0-10, 2-24, 2-16, and 0-13

Not a knock on the girls, but who is in charge of CA HS stats? Does CIF have their own official stats page, and is it any better?
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

That's nothing. My daughter has 15 HR's in only 10 AB's and her batting average is 1.365. Her ERA is -0.35 too!

Whoever their scorekeeper is, they're idiots. The highest attainable batting average would be 1.000. If she has 42 hits, she has to have 42 at bats. Maybe more, but certainly not less.

Best guess would they transposed the numbers. She's probably got 31 hits in 42 ABs which is a .738 average. If not, they need to put on the dunce's hat.

If you follow the link you can click on the specific player to get individual games stats, which reveals a data entry error on the 12 March game vs Mountain View. 32 hits were entered instead of 3 or 2. Obviously a fat finger problem.

FYI stats are entered by each team's coach not by MaxPreps. I'm suprised that there isn't a software check to catch these problems.
