I booked a room at Super 8, Hemet. $61 a night and 8 miles from the fields. Not a first class establishment but will do for a quick overnighter. They provide breakfast and have a few rooms left.

I have stayed there it was clean and it was cheep. Hampton in is nice but it was 100 more and they were sold out. :)

I am a Riverside County Firefighter. I used to be stationed in San Jacinto. Soboba Reservation was our first roll area. The reservation can be very lawless at times. There was a shootout with RivCo sheffifs 1-2 years ago. During that period we could not respond onto the reservation/casino until police had cleared the area. It seems to back to "normal". I am no longer stationed there. As someone stated earlier check The Press Enterprise for full details and facts. These cycles of violence come and go at Soboba. Yes there is violence everywhere in SoCal, sometimes it is still like the wild west at Soboba. Anyways......
Good luck to all the teams playing there this weekend.

Redbull???

Given the locale, shouldn't that be Chief Red Bull? Or Sitting Red Bull? Or...

And are the shootings and police chases really all that common? I mean, do the girls just play on with bullets whizzing by and sirens screaming in the distance? Sounds kind of silly, or even stupid, if true. And if the boys tournaments have been stopped there, why do the girls still play there? It can't really be that bad... can it??

Yes...without question, it is that bad there. Perhaps you did not heed my advice when I told you to check the Press Enterprise Newspaper site for yourself...or ask a parent of the last boys baseball tourney that everyone actually fled from because of automatic weapon fire ( I think there is a post of that in this thread). It's for real....and it's pathetic. There are some good people there...but they are in Vegas this weekend !!

A little late with the reply here, but thought that I would point out that, as far as I know, nobody got shot or maimed out there (not counting our ego after getting whipped a few times), and the facilities, while distant, where great...No problem finding the place, no problem parking, no ice chest hassles, no scheduling problems at all, cheap snack bar (did I eat a buffalo burger?). Since warm up areas are tight around the fields, they allowed us to use the football field and baseball field for warm ups.

It was like a safari driving around out there, we saw buffalo, zebras, Texas long horns and other beasts which you don't see in the OC.

I would not hesitate to participate in another Tourney out there.

If you saw those animals, you were prolly at Shayla Field or near-by Park Hill...that's Minor Gold country...not the Res.

Now...if you saw any other animals running around with with fully automatic weapons, driving Escalades, and drinking beer... :o  ;)

Actually, except for the buffalo, those critters were seen in peoples yards off the res, closer to Hemet...Pets?

We are 12's, so we were on the res. It is almost as if 'Tribal Enforcement' read this thread prior to the tourny, becuse they were all over the place by the fields, presumably to keep the Escalades away..

It's great to know The Bucket's influence has reached the reservation... now I can't help but wonder how long it will take to reach the pols in D.C.!
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.
