Hotshots Friendlys

by huskerdan377 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 10:30 am

(Hey any updates from this weekends friendly? Heard AZ Cats 96 showed really well only losing one game to Desert Gemz. I know Desert Thunder, Cats and Hotshots were playing on Saturday who all was out there on Sunday besides Cats and Desert Gemz.)

Friendlys went great this weekend. Saturday had Desert Thunder and Cats. Sunday play was 96 Hotshots, Cats, Gems and Ridge. Cats showed really well and took it to us on Sunday. Good to see what we need to work on for $50 instead of $450.

Hotshots are hosting another friendly May 8 & 9. $50 per game with 2 umpires. If you interested in playing contact Dan Renyer (huskerdan377@aol.com). :D

Our State 14u National Qualifier is June 11-13th only taking 2 teams :( The State Championships in July is not a qualifier this year.

The Cats actually tied with the Gems due to the roll back drop dead rule. The tournament was a good one for everybody that participated. Thanks to the Hotshots for putting it on. :D

Thanks for the updates, Desert Thunder, Cats and Hotshots those are some tough teams. Have not heard much about Gemz or the Ridge, looking at previous tournaments they seem to win alot against the weaker competition but are very competitive with the better teams. For anyone that was out at the friendlies this weekend what is your take on either of those teams? Are they teams to look at in the future in the A divison?

I thought the 96 AZ Cats team was very solid last spring. Is this current roster as solid or better then the spring 09 Cats?

Great job Dan and Hotshots for hosting. Its often a thankless job so kudos. Very nice to see AZ putting these type games together and it will help the kids maximize thier potential getting ready for states & nationals. There are some really good teams continueing to develop in the desert.

A few different girls on the Cats. 3-4 I believe, we are one of the new ones. The friendlies are kind of fun compared to some the tournaments where you might have a game at 7:00 am and one at 8 pm. I think our coach thought the same and would like to do more of them.

What the teams participating will find is friendlies will ultimately turn into more bang for your team dollar, assuming the friendlies catch on and there are enough teams around to mix it up.. I also highly recommend that the Cats (or any AZ team) come back into so cal during the stretch run of spring before AZ states.

Good luck!

Yes I agree with So Cal friendlies. We are going to Laguna Beach over Memorial Day. DO you have any info on friendlies over the summer we could take advantage of? I will pass them on to our coach.

Thanks!

We played cats Sunday. #16 pitched one inning and then pitched the Hotshots game.
