First, I know this umpire, he umpires quite a bit in the Grapettes and Runnin Rebels tournies.. he'll get a kick out of it when I tell him he is featured!

Now I'm sure Phil wanted the call..

But guess what???

You can't tell by that pic if the catcher got the swipe or not. The runner didnt miracalize herself to the plate, she had to run by the catcher..

So my call is..

It's impossible to know..well except one lil itty bitty thing..

The play was "OUT" and it aint nothin til blue calls it..

So you dont ring someone up with the hand holding the mask, which looks lame. Out calls are made with the right hand. Your indicator and mask are always held in the left hand...

Luckily for me, I'm wrong handed so it never was an issue.. for the righties, sometimes they will accidentally remove their mask with their right hand or gravitate towards using it for the mask.

I've had some instructors say its a safety issue, which I dont buy off on, but I agree it looks lame to call someone out with a mask.
