Well...my frail kid is working thru a bout of tendinitis that was caused by HS ball...
She hasnt, wont throw a ball...with threats of amputation until at least Sep...
She has been seen by a Dr. and a professional level trainer...and we are doing what they say...

...and she'd look funny catching with a hook device on her hand if she doesn't do what they say...and my wife would do it with a smile :D

So, catch 22...which one do we not do...HS ball or PGF?...you tell me?

Art...You know what Yellowhammer is dont ya...You getting real close to a 'ROLL TIDE" there :D

How much time off do you grant your DD?

After my DD's last tryout, I told her not to pick up a bat, ball or glove for a week until her next official team practice. I wish we could have gone longer. I am hearing from other dads that their coach says that they need to put in 250 swings a day regardless of a scheduled practice. I also hear that if you are not putting in the work everyday that you are not getting any better, and if you put in only a few days a week that you are just maintaining your skill level.

I know that when I take some time off from playing golf, and when I come back to play a round I play a lot better than we I was working at it on a consistent basis. Although my short game gets a little rusty. Did I forget bad habits, or I am refreshed and ready to play? Who knows.

The schools of thought are conflicting. Take time off to get better or You have to work everyday to get better. I am sure there is a happy medium somewhere in between, and that we have to do what is in the best interest for our DD's based on their situation.

Uno, I think that's great.

We just made a family decision last night to have my DD take most or all of the fall off to rest her arm and have her concentrate on her grades for her senior year and also the upcoming SAT test in late October.

Along with the emphasis on the academics she will also be on a strict non-softball workout regimen, but probably won't even throw until October.

After the SAT test we may see if anyone would be interested in having her come play for them as a pickup player or possibly do a private workout for them. She wants to be on a team before HS ball starts back up in Feb.

Good luck to both your DDs and everyone else out there!
