The Bombers did pick up their pitchers the day before the Southlake tournament (not Mansfield) in October. The team had never played together until that Saturday morning, so my understanding is they were struggling with their defensive plays and a lot of their offense (didn't see the games just heard about them). Especially with figuring out what position to play the new girls they added. They also brought a couple of girls in to "tryout" for the team that they were getting into some games. It is fall and so they wanted to see what those girls could do in live game situations before committing to picking them up for the spring. Several of those girls are no longer with the team and they (the 99 Bombers) have set their roster now and are settling into a rhythm. That is what fall is all about. That may be why you see the differences from one tournament to another. The other pitcher they have, wasn't with them at any of the tournaments except Huber Ranch as she had previous committments. She should be there this weekend and the remainder of the fall and spring. Haven't seen her play, but if that really makes them a solid 3-some and the bats continue to come alive as they did in Temple, they will be in the hunt regularly.
All the fall teams are trying to figure out what to do for the Spring so this is mostly practice. You can never predict where teams (especially the young ones) will be in the spring for the most part, but the posts above are right. Should be some good games this weekend. Unfortunately we will be at my son's baseball tournament. Good luck to everyone.
