I think both High Voltage and the Red Hots will be very strong when it counts in the Spring. I have said all along that Volleyball is a major interruption to the Fall Season once the girls hit 7th grade and above.

High Voltage will not be in the RM because Gene has well over the majority of his team playing in a district VB tourney this weekend. The Red Hots have several that play club volleyball as well as school volleyball. That makes it difficult to get the needed practice.

Once the Spring gets here and softball is the main focus I bet both of these teams perform as expected.

Hotbox,
After the Burroughs we have heard little if any from the redhots or high voltage. As always there is alot of pressure from the top clubs (fall or winter) to back up the #1 or #2 ranking. When that does'nt happen I guess the best thing to do is to keep quite, since they have stated there is not much in 12u they will have to play 14u for the competition.

I firmly believe the top 5 or 6 in 12u is wide open this fall. I think redhots and high voltage will do well but NOT dominate like they thought they would.

Good luck to all this week-end. Be safe and enjoy the great SOFTBALL.

I have no excuses for our play at Burroughs. We didn't hit and made mistakes. This makes for a losing scenario. I spoke with Ray on the phone and would have done the same if I knew Tammy better. I told Ray and will tell Tammy great job. We didn't play horrible just didn't hit in our last two games. The three games we did win, we run-ruled two of them. I guess we just hit ourselves out. No excuses, when the better pitching showed up we didn't hit. If this was the spring I would have resorted to small ball quicker than last inning of last game. I believe the at-bats you get in the fall and early spring help you in June/July. This is something I believe strongly in. I'm pretty sure everyone is working hard to get better every week. ;) Should make for an exciting spring. I can't wait till after first of year because Jr. High sports will be minimal and should be able to get full attention back on SOFTBALL.

RH & HV are two of the top teams along with SI and Eleite, but everyone is dealing with the VB season and everyone should be better in the spring/summer. It is tough to be the top dogs because everyone is going to get up to play them. I will say there is allot more talent in 12u than anyone exspected and it will take some good softball to get through the big 12u tournaments when everyone is in. Seems that there are several upsetters in 12u that might not have all the pieces to finish a larg tournament, but can put any team in the loosers bracket early. Makes for some intresting softball and no sure things no matter who you are. I have not seen a team that if they loose in the first bracket game can come all the way back in this big tournament. RH did a great job to finish in the top four after there early exit of the winners bracket in the last 12u tournament most teams would have not got back to the top four.

I still think the 98 teams have an advantage in the fall because the majority of these teams do not have to deal with Jr. High athletics. The majority, if not all, of the 97 teams do encounter this obstacle.

You are correct in that the playing field should be even for the 97 teams...however, the 98 teams get to practice more together and should perform better as a unit in the fall. One of the things I think that is also hurting the Red Hots is the out of the Houston area players they have on their team. This limits practice time together, and can affect team chemistry. I do not care how talented players are, if they do not practice together on a consistent basis it will show come game time.

I have herd on here that the 97 are allot better than the 98"s so if what you say is true it should not make that much diffrance with all the exsperiance the 97"s have over the 98"s. I really don't think the RH need defending thay are a good team and they will be fine, but there are teams in 12u that can beat them and will. They also knew the problem with haveing players from out of town when they picked them up. I have not herd the RH complaining about all these so called disadvantages. They know they will have to play good softball to do any winning from now on, as will as the field. Who do you play for ? It sounds like the RH

Quit whining and play.......everyone can make excuses for why their team is not performing like it should, from VB to out of town players, to not as talented as we thought we were to blah, blah, blah......next thing you will say is there are too many "B" teams playing "A".

Softball Warrior:

Not whining jerk-off...my DD does not even play for these two teams which would be a condition for me to whine. I am simply stating an observation.

Our team has not been affected by Volleyball, but whether or not you want to accept it, what I stated is a fact. When the spring gets here and the Red Hots and High Voltage are strong as always and kicking your DD's team off the field then you can write and tell me I'm wrong.

Until then....Bring It!
