(1) At the 12U level the plastic is not as important as preparing for the Spring.
(2) Many teams that are preparing for these tourneys are playing RR tourneys, it would easy to pick weak tourneys to "get the plastic"
(3) Many of these teams are also playing 14U to prepare for the faster, stronger teams
that will be at the top of the state and national tourneys..it is not because 12 is unimportant
(4) These polls have no meaning as it is very simple to get a bunch of family members,
friends and team parents to vote and sway the results.
(5) Many of the 2nd year teams have a tough time practicing due to girls playing VB. This will
keep them from getting the repition that will occur and separate them from others in the
Spring (my DD does not play VB...this is just a fact)

If anyone things the results of this past weekend will have any bearing on the games in the Spring that count you will be stronly disappointed. Have fun with the voting, but a computer
champion means nothing.

I would say by your list you are from 1 of the 2 97 teams that did not live up to their press this week-end
1) I agree that fall is to find out where your team is, what your team needs to do to compete in the spring.

2)I would not say this week end was a weak field and I hope you would not insult the other teams by saying that. RR get alot of games in, in 1 dAY, gives the coaches a chance to look at players in different spots and different situations. win or lose is not as important as in tournment play.

3) If you are a 12u team hat cannot find competition in 12u then by all means play 14u to improve the play of your team. But if cannot win or compete at a high level in 12u why would you want to play 14u and embrassess your team.

4) I agree on the polls they are just a gauge on how every one feels

5) Girls playing junior high sports happens to all the 97 and up teams. that is not a reason to play poorly that is an excuse. and you know what they say about excuses everyone has one.

Did not mean to get you all butt-hurt on this one.

My point was I did not see the need for another 12U poll...we already had one. I am glad that you feel my opinion important enough to counter every point. I will counter-point some of your comments.

You say trophies are not important, but you set the tone of the voting by listing how many teams placed 1st - 4th in tourneys...same difference.

As far as bantering back and forth...I agree with your point that it provides this opportunity...so did the other 12 poll. By the way thanks for reminding me to encourage everyone to wear the mask.

As for excuses...I stated my daughter did not play VB so I personally was not making an excuse. I was simply, as I said in my previous post, making a factual statement. The difference you are over-looking is that the things you listed affect all teams which evens the playing field. Only the 2nd year teams (except in very rare circumstances) will be affected by VB because a majority of their girls are in 7th.

Glad we all agree the new poll was only because tractormf never updated the team list. 1 team no longer existed and 2 didn't belong on the poll.

Tex:

Good try guessing what team my DD is with, but wrong. By the way, I don't remember stating that this was a weak tourney. You had the RH, HV 97, Sudden Impact 97 and Elite 97 in addition to several other fine teams in this one. There were also several other teams that certainly proved their worth in this tourney.

Once again, my point by mentioning the interference of VB is that the 98 teams do not face this problem, and therefore, do not have practices impacted by this. If this were a 14U tourney on up then the playing field would be completely even and better suited to predict the strong teams. Again, I do not have a daughter who plays volleyball, as she is not age eligible to do so yet. Furthermore, our team has not been affected by this, but I do think it is a legit point to make.

I will concede a point to Really in that the other poll had not been updated. That said, I am betting the teams that should not have been on the poll, or who were no longer in existence, probably were not drawing many votes from the others. It would be easy to see the favorites by reviewing which teams were trending upwards.
