Do Parents have a right to see the team financials?

Transparency builds trust. If you are a team coach/manager building a new organization, then you probably have no choice. You must show your financials, or risk failing to budget properly and failing to build the trust of your customers (the parents).

if you are a team coach/manager of an existing, STABLE organization, then your value proposition is clear and your policies are well known. Acceptance of players fees binds you in an implied contract. You are not obligated to show how you use the money. You are only obligated to deliver on your end of the contract:

As a customer (parent), you have the right to know the contract that you are entering into: composition of coaching staff, practice schedule, method used to determine playing time, penalties for failure to attend practices/games/tournaments, etc.

If the terms of the contract are met, then HOW the money is used is immaterial. It is the FAILURE to establish the terms of the contract that causes parents to desire to see the team financials.
