lmao. Yeah, Clinton has a long history of doing great things for women. Not to mention North Korea. Hell, if I wanted something from Dear Leader I would send Clinton too. He gave them the bomb...what are a few journalists in return?
And I have no doubt that you
were impressed that he didn't speak at the news conference. Talk about a guy who loves to hear himself talk.
As far as those journalists are concerned, there is NO WAY that we should have sent high profile diplomats, much less a former president, over there to secure their return. It is, once again, rewarding bad behavior...the only strategy that liberals are capable of where international relations are concerned. These buffoons are outclassed by tinpot dictators. The Russians and Chinese will eat their collective lunches (like they always have, and currently are).
As far as responsibility for the state of the economy goes, I'll be the last one to defend Bush. He spent money and grew government like a drunken sailor (i.e., like a liberal). But the fact is that the lending/subprime mortgage crisis (and thus the economic meltdown) resulted directly from the relaxation of lending standards, which in turn resulted directly from political pressure exerted by liberals on lending institutions to "level the playing field" and create vehicles for low income home ownership. Such institutions were perfectly happy to do so, given that a) the federal government (principally via Fannie Mae), aka taxpayers, guaranteed repayment of the lousy loans, and b) they were allowed to create complex securitizations of loan aggregations (effectively hiding the tenuousness of the underlying income streams) and sell them in the securities markets. Attempts by conservative lawmakers to audit/investigate the lending practices of Sallie Mae were consistently stonewalled by liberal lawmakers and the ridiculously overpaid liberal bureaucrats running Sallie Mae. You don't need Fox News to tell you this...there are boatloads of direct tapes of congressional committee hearings proving it quite clearly. Search YouTube and enjoy.
