Report from 23U

In Williamsburg VA. this weekend ... the rumor is that NSA is going to 18 & over next year instead of 23U ... U-trip has already made this change and I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about ASA making the change ... And again ... coaching and ball players were top notch ... a great weekend but a whole new ball of wax ...

G, in what way? A friend and I are thinking about following your lead this next year.

D ... As far as the players go ... I have noticed the biggest jump in talent between 18U and 23U ... there a fewer teams and most of the gals are former college or college ball players with a few HS Seniors thrown in ... we probably had enough interest to make 2 teams but stuck with one strong one ... 14 gals this weekend and 2 were missing ... but we have heard from other coaches that it was all they could do to get 12 ... At 18's I noticed more distraction from the ball players ; jobs, BF's, studies, staying up too late in their rooms, preasure from the parents ... and we knew it was just a matter of time before we were faced with addressing, changing or reinventing team policies ... but, we figured since we have a good bunch that we would play it by ear and let them lead us into the new ground ... so , BF's spending the night in the rooms was the first inquiry we recieved ... we dealt with that and then took the bull by the horns and addressed drinking in the rooms as well as drinking out of the rooms ( which did not come up yet ) ... We have not yet had to address our tobacco products policy ... but as time goes on, if and when 23u is changed to 18 & over ...
