1st yr 14u-how does it work?

OK. Our season is over after 12u Triple Crown and we now contemplate what to do next year. DD can play with the best of them and would be able to hang with a 95 team. But what happens if her new teams ends up being 50/50 96 and 95's? When the 95's go to high school, what do we do? I hear some teams form a tournament team with younger players while high school ball is being played then return to their old team when high school is over. Or should we shoot for an all 96 team in order to avoid turmoil come February? No idea how this should work. Help please!

Well, my personal opinion is to go with a team that has all players your daughter's age. Unless she
would like to play girls that are in high school. But yes you are correct. The highschoolers temporarily leave their travel team to go play for their highschool. Then when the season is over they come back to their travel team and start back up again. The only problem is if it is a mix then the players who are not in high school yet are kind of in a dead end. If you do choose to go with a 95 team, no worries. I'm sure your Daughter will be fine and I'm sure the team you go with will pick up other 96's to play for the team.

Make sure you get the answer to that question while at the tryout. Find out what the team's plans are during the HS season. Most teams will build a roster based on what they plan to do, and usually that is based whether or not the coachs' daughters are playing HS ball. (That is not a slam, just stating a fact.) And it is possible to have a team of 2nd-year 14U players who are incoming freshmen and not playing HS ball yet. We were on a team like that last year.
