it finally happened folks, while watching my DD's 12u game last week against her teams rival, I blew my top!! I played ball highly competative about 15 years so I know the game a little.(even played fastpitch for a few years). 2 games ,DD gets nailed 4 out of the first 5 times she's up,I try to let the coaches coach and I usually keep quiet.Well sure as sh***t,next time up again in the head.So I blew it!! I got up out of the bleachers looked at the pitcher who was smiling, walked up to the backstop and yelled at bulah ballbreaker coach and yelled at the top of my lungs, "1 more and the next ones coming at you!!Now mind you my DD hits leadoff with great speed and very good bat.I felt terrible for yelling in front of the girls and lost a lot of sleep over this.My wife who knows nothing at all about sports, tells me you were just protecting our baby.Did I overreact? Amazingly the pitcher didnt hit anyone else after that. go figure.Call me old school but I was also mad at DD's coach for not "protecting his own players". As billy martin would have done.Rest his soul.Curious to hear any feedback, stories, shrinks advise etc

Yes, you were out of line.

Your comments should have been reserved for your DD's coach who should have been the one in Blue's face and/or the opposing coach. I would warn your coach that if he can't stand up for his players...you'll be walking!

That type of stuff is one of the few things that will get me to have a parent removed from the park.. so you wouldnt have gotten to see if she got hit again. And I've had something like that happen before.

Parents often over react to HBP's.

You were not out of line.

You were WAY out of line and should have been removed from anywhere near the game as a threat and a danger. You would have been gone or that game was done as a 7-0 forfeit.

Take the forfeit , but make it count. In baseball we handle it by charging the mound and clearing the benches. I have seen as many as nine girls in one game HBP , talk about a danger.

I agree with the above posters. How was your DD handling It? Probably OK. Was she humiliated when you yelled, though? You probably need to apologize to her.

It does irritate me when a pitcher hits a lot of batters. I can think of one that my DD's team caught up with on the bb court. They evened the score, then.

But it was for them to do, not me.

Yeah, me too! I call that the good ole days! Had a couple of bench clearings in HS.

Good times.

So why didn't the blue do something after the first two or three? Four times! The blue should be gone! The fifth time in the head! The blue should be escorted from the park along with the offending team and coaches and charges looked into. And what was this girl's own coaches doing while this was going on? If your own coaches weren't doing anything then Dad, you were NOT out of line.

I wish we had a rule to eject crappy pitchers - crappy catchers too! Lobby for that for me!

Yes you were out of line - but its totally understandable. What it says is that your kid is so good and the other team can not defend against her, so what they want to do is to hurt her. You do need to be on a team that understands how this is handled - maybe 12u is too young, it was not too young in our case, this has happened to both my kids, one team handles those problems just fine, the other does not.

We are in a school situation where there are travel ball teammates on another team, not teammates of my daughters. Since the other team knows there will be no retaliation, its open season. Sucks - but my daughter has learned how to handle it, and she has made them pay
big time. Your daughter better figure it out because it only gets worse.

Here is what I was taught, not by anyone other than my players. Its not the blues job to referee this stuff, if it gets that bad, then your team is not taking care of business and your kid should leave. The kids will take care of this - and in listening to the kids - there are two schools of thought. One is to beat the xxxx out of them, dont hit them, dont let them get on base, but any opportunity arises, take it. Second school of thought - lock and load.

You dont see this kind of stuff real often but it does come up, usually with the more ghetto teams and those that have learned from ghetto coaches.

By the way, if you and or your kid is not able to handle this, try soccer.

What the H*ll is your problem? ;) ... I have never lost my cool, spoke up when I shouldn't, felt like a turd in the punch bowl the next day over something I said or did ... if you are not careful your DD may realize you're a passionate human being ... :o ...
I agree with Donnie ... them throwing at your DD is a compliment ... the head shot was cheap but maybe that one got away from the hurler ... If DD is that good of a stick that they would rather HBP her than have her swing the bat she better get used to it ... or as Donnie says, try soccer ....
If I was Coaching, I would have been out of the dugout on the 2nd time ... probably walking to the parking lot after the 3rd, and hearing about the 4th one after the game ...
Yes, I have told pitchers to throw inside at a batter ... very inside .... very very very inside ... it's part of the game ... I have never instructed or suggested that a pitcher throw at someones head although it is probably easier to get out of the way of than throwing at their hip ...
