Wonder if the Diamonds and Peppers will play in the National Qualifier in Dallas or the HOF in Oklahoma, both are the same weekend. I would imagine the HOF but you never know, better chances @ HOF IMO with the top 8 advancing and only 1st place advancing at National Qualifier...

Go to the qualifyer and not go to HOF? I would think HOF. But it has happened. Velocity gave up a birth last year.

50/50 chance! Good thing they are giving 8 spots ;)

FB Thunder/Austin Finest 96/Tx Ice 96/Tx Force

Glory 96/Houston Power/ST Riptide/Fusion 96/Bombers 97/Longhorns/ Austin Finest 97

Great finish, Peppers had to be exhausted after playing back to back all day long, and the Red Hots really showed their stuff in every game. Fury almost pulled off the upset of the day over the Diamonds, but Ice '96 almost upset the Peppers as well. Bombers/Sting tied at 6th are surprises, as are the disappointing finishes by Bandits/Thunder. Regardless, teams that were knocked out by the top 3 should still be proud of their finish.

An observation on the secret receipe for 2nd yr success? Apparently have at least 4 big hitters in your lineup and 2-3 solid pitchers that can throw the curve/rise with some success. Speed helps too, but pitching and batting is what it takes to finish at the top.

A ladies opinion from this weekend. Overall Houston showed they have better teams than N TX. There were not many teams from the north left after mid-morning on Sunday. Some of the teams I had high expectations for just flat didnt play. All i heard about from the North was Fusion and Longhorns. According to reports Fusion looked plain silly and were 0-2 BBQ. Longhorn managed to win one game but then fell apart literally. That was the talk of the tournament on Sunday about how the team basically iomploded in the dugout after their final loss. Lost their pitcher and supposedly several more are on their way out. What a bunch of head cases. Force looked good then you basically had 2 97 teams and that was it. I think 6 of the 8 undefeated teams going into Sunday were all from Houston plus the Diamonds and then the team from Austin. Several Houston teams played well all weekend. Props to the Red Hots for making it to the top 3 and beating some great teams. Fury played extremely well and had their bubble bust by the Diamonds. Peppers showed me a lot as well this weekend and gained more respect. The biggest surprise to me was how good those Diamonds are. I ws anxious to see them after all of the hype and gossip on here. Based on several postings on here I was not sure what to expect. Dont really know if what I saw this weekend was just a mirage or if that is rreally how good they are but to me they were far and away the best team out there thise weekend. They had big girls and they had fast girls. Their defense was the best i have seen and their pitching was surprisingly effective. They didnt throw very hard at all but they seemd to hit their spots and moved the ball very well. The biggest shock was how hard they hit the ball the couple of times i watched they murdered the ball. The big lefty is a monster. Based on what i saw this weekend and having never seen them play before i could see how they finished 2 at ASA Nationals. Dont know why they have not placed in more tournaments. Would be curious to hear from some more NTx people about there thoughts. Congrats to Houston for snagging 2 of the top 3.

Did the Red Hots have an easy draw...who did they have to play to get so far? Just curious...I know they are a good scrappy team but really didn't predict them in the top 3.

The Redhots beat the thunder 4 to 1. Then coming back and beating Bandits 4 to 0.
So the redhots did not have an easy one.

This is such typical Houston behavior. For the last couple of months this whole TX board has been dominated by the likes of REALLY, SoftballG, smackdaddy, bleacher creature, frito burrito, houfastpitch and all the others. All tooting their horns about how good they are and how the HOF would determine who has bragging rights for the state because so many good teams would finally play in the same tournament to settle the score once and for all. Now, not a peep out of anybody and when you do post it is about how good yor houston teams did in not winning the thing. Where are you guys hiding. Looking at the bracket on the VTD it looks like there were some real shockers. Fusion 0-2 and only scoring 2 run the entire tournament. The Bandits kicking the Longhorns butt 11-0. A first year team finishing in the top 3 and the Diamonds giving up 2 runs the entire tournament. So what do you all have to say for yourself. Frito you promised everyone a response on Monday and i have been anxiously awaiting your comments. As for me, well we made the trip but got our hats handed to us in the 14Us but that was what i kind of expected anyway. I find it funny that after 2 days no one from the Diamonds has come on here to gloat or you dont find anyone talking about their performance but if a Houston team had walked away the gold the post would have been up to 20 pages by now.

Coasterhead, it sounds like you may be a little upset about getting your hat handed to you! If I remember correct the Houston teams made a very good showing. My DD's team my not have placed in the top 3 but we did not walk away with our heads down. After playing a 0 to 0 five inning game in regulation time and 2 itb innings against the team that won it all. Losing the game on the only past pitch our pitcher had in that game. How could our team be disapointed? We are proud of our girls and the way they performed this past weekend. I hope that when we get to Normal we will get to meet the Diamonds again, they are a great team and all of the girls, coaches and parents were a class act team with good attitudes. Great job Diamond, Peppers and Red Hots. We will see you soon. Now are you happy Coasterhead? I took the time out of my bussy day to give you what yoiu were looking for.

PS. Asmack, it looks like your team has earnd you bragging rights.
