I can't make up my mind for the 'ship, but Florida will be there and win it all.

I laughed because it is North Dakota State. I bet a massive percentage of the softball community didn't even know they were in regionals. Even thinking that OU didn't have "it" to make it far, I certainly didn't expect NDSU to advance over OU and Tulsa.

We all knew there would be an upset somewhere, but were probably thinking it would be a Purdue, Notre Dame, Fresno, BYU, or Illinois type upset.

Personally, I love when the little guy knocks the big boy out. It just made me giggle, you don't think of NDSU on an everyday softball basis. I guess we do now.

I looked at Missouri's roster as well, mostly home grown, 2 california, 1 texan. They pounded a number of big 12 teams, so last nights game wasnt that surprising. Washington's schedule though is what makes them the #1 team on my list. Florida vs Washington - cant wait for that one.

What is that supposed to mean? Would North Dakota State be even stronger if they had three quarters of their players from Missouri?

Okay Lets update how things are going:

The Pac10 is 27-9 with 3 of 6 advancing to the CWS.

The SEC is 22-12 with 3 of 9 advancing to the CWS.

The Big12 is 16-13 with 1 of 7 advancing to the CWS.

The Big10 is 10-10 with 1 of 6 advancing to the CWS.

The ACC is 6-6 with 0 of 3 advancing to the CWS.

The Ohio Valley is 4-5 with 0 of 2 advancing to the CWS.

The Summit is 3-2 with 0 of 1 advancing to the CWS.


Hmmm. SEC underperformed in the regional, but all three teams swept through to the CWS. Pac10 was about what everyone expected, except for the UCLA game 3. I must say I found myself rooting for Missouri even though Langenfeld got squeezed ruthlessly by a seeing-eye blue. Couldn't believe UCLA couldn't make the adjustment on offense and defense. Michigan showed their experience over Baylor, and Arizona never gave up! Washington is only going as far as Lawrie takes them, as their hitting is not up to the standards of most of the other teams. NDSU and JSU both were just happy to get here, and folded up their tents after losing game 1, though JSU may have may never have put their tents up!

Looks like another SEC-PAC10 battle, but after overlooking Mizzou, I won't rule them out. I still think this may be the year that the SEC wins it all. Florida really looks like they have all the peices in place. If they don't win it, it will be mostly mental (like Tennessee with Abbott)!

I'm rooting for a Washington-Florida final. Should be a great series! Watching Lawrie throw 59-60 mph off-speed pitches left me and my daughter amazed! She was the only fireballer who actually was willing and/or able to change speeds.
