Once a roster has been redlined, State or any National Qualifier, players who signed in are frozen to that roster. If they did not sign in, they are not frozen to that roster until they do so. After being listed or registered, showing up and signing in is the final step in the freezing process. Unless an association has a different rule specific to that area, the showing up and signing in is the final step and until then they are only listed on the roster and not officially frozen. Otherwise teams could just add players to their list to prevent them from playing anywhere else. Once you show up, sign in and therefore play, you are frozen. Everything else is just thinking about it. This is done to protect the players and prevent teams from freezing players to keep them off of other teams. You have to show up, get checked in and sign in to be frozen to a roster. If they do not check in and sign in, they are not frozen.
Teams attending any level of ASA Nationals, (USA/ASA, Northern, Western, Eastern or Southern) can add any player from non-playing teams 7 days prior to the event for which they are registered to attend. This is because all deadlines are over 7 days prior and there would be no chance of a player who's team is playing in one level to have a player try to leave to play with another team at a differnet level.
