ASA player registration

I know this should be pretty simple but I dont have the time to look.

We have a girl joining the team that came from another ASA team. They havent played any qualifiers. But her coach is still going to need to release her before we can put her on our roster right? And we had a girl leave us recently, so same goes there, I need to release her or delete her from the roster right?

Locally, maybe. ASA, I do not believe so. The only form of the word "release" appears only once in the ASA Code and that pertains to the slate of candidates nominated for the Hall of Fame.

A roster is official when signed by the commissioner for Championship Play. Obviously, if a player has left your team, you want to remove her so that you can fill the spot.

Local associations may set their own deadlines, so I strongly suggest you check with your JO commissioner, but read the code first.

You dont need to do anything.

She will need to be placed on a championship roster which will be redlined by your local JO commissioner (or deputy ) ASSUMING she was not already on a championship roster.


I have 1 player that is playing for my temp team until my HS players return. She had not been registered by her normal team yet, so I went ahead and registered with my team so she would be insured and asa registred. Once my HS players return, she goes back to her regular team and all is well in the world. I need to do nothing.

VTD won't let you add her on your roster until she is released....When you click on there to do it, it goes right back to the previous frame.....She needs to be taken off of her old team's roster on VTD and then you're fine!

If a player signed a contract with another team you better see her release before she steps on your field, period the end. Just went through this with ASA this week!

If you are playing in any non championship play tournament, no roster is needed, thus no "release" as you call it is needed.

I have heard the release stories beforem, but once a player is redlined and plays in championship play, nothing will allow that player to play for another team in championshipp play... speaking ASA only.

ASA does not have contracts and any contract a player signed is useless especially if under 18 years of age.

Actually, if you lived here, you would be incorrect on this one.

We only play ASA, don't have player contracts, and all of our registrations are via VTD. Once a player is released from her team, she goes to the Dropped Players List. Only then can her new team add her to their roster.

Teams do have problems occasionally adding new players if the old team hasn't released players due to past dues or non-returned uniforms/team equipment.

My mistake then, but out here, I have never used VTD, and hopefully never will.

That just sounds like nothing but headache.
