Softball fan stereotypes

What's on your mind?

My observation is Bucket Crusher Dad is married to Control Freak Mom both of whom are trying out to make it on to the next team competition on Biggest Loser. They of course love to tell you about their DD who is a great slap hitter and should be batting 1st in the lineup. DD was unfortunately blessed with her parents genes and has 3.5 speed home to first.

This is a great list! I have a person who fits EVERY one of those names. Here are some additions:

The Fan Clan - This is the kid whose parents, aunt, uncles, sisters, brothers, grandparents, great grandparents, neighborhood and family dog and cat fill the stands with t-shirts and sweatshirts with her face and number. If the kids isn't starting, the coach is an idiot. They are great for fundraising!

The Stat Checker- This person checks the DD's stats after every game and questions every call the scorekeeper ( and the coach ) made. "Are you sure that home run wasn't an error on the center fielder?"( that would be a pitcher's parent).

The Photog - Every at bat, every play, this parent is up to the backstop with the video camera and/or the camera. Pictures are used for a variety of purposes including recruiting, scrapbooking, and wall papering the living room.

Of course at the end of the day all anyone is interested in is the "centerfold mommy". She makes the rest of the list bearable to deal with.

Yes, I know all of these people, in 2 states. They are in every town.

Do you know Grill Guy? He is the person that is actually nice and will run the grill during the tourney?

What about Pain Pill Mom? She is on prescription meds, but has been on them as long as you have known her. She is a bit dangerous driving the car.

And then, Alky Dad. He had a few at lunch and a few after work and you ain't sure what is in his water bottle.

I am trying to be "in shape, pitching coach that sits and watches the game." But rec coach and volunteer umpire are kinda hard to watch.

I like to grab Fat Bastard and ask him to warm up the pitcher, especially if she can hit 55mph and is a bit wild.

'plastic cup pete' - in the morning he's about as nice a guy as you'd want to know. by the last game he's slurring insults at blue and dd. control freak mom is trying to get his keys. his dd is yet embarrased again.

The dad that has to tell everyone (including national boards) about how great his kid's team is, and how every team deep in the heart of his state will HAMMER any other state's team that dare go to nationals....that is, if his state's teams even bother to go to nationals, since all the greatest tournaments and teams are in his back yard...

the excuse parent:
the parents that can never just say "we lost".
it's always
"the umps gave all the calls to the other team"
"we have 3 girls out because of injuries"
"we have 3 girls missing for school"
"our girls were all out of position"
"that was our #4 pitcher"
"the winning team scored all their runs in one inning"
and my favorite: "we lost on errors"
