Like the razzle dazzle Sam.
Here's another
No-one on base.
Batter hits to outfield.
Catcher sprinting follow
to first base.
As SS & F4 are covering second base and retrieving throw,
first base pulls off the bag
( Runner & Coach see firstbase player away from bag)
catcher takes back pic position at 1st behind the batter/runner rounding first.
Turn & burn with throw!
Runner go sit down!
Definitely a much more rare play to see. Can remember two exceptional moments that happened. Once when I was playing on the original Joe Grubbs O.C. Batbusters team against Phil Bruders defending national champions Raiders. Plucked the runner off at first. ZAP!!!
Another phenomenal time it happened was while I was playing for Long Beach State, playing against defending national champions Cal State Fullerton another plucked runner at first. ZAP !!!
Catcher at firstbase making a tag!
Your Stories?
Why SS and F4 at 2 Bag? I see that alot and its very irritating/bad rotation
that was my short story version described as "covering second base and retrieving the throw"
To be clearer...
Depending on which side of the Outfield the ball was hit to
Either the second baseman or shortstop would cover 2nd base.
The other float out as a cut off.
Or
Depending on which side of the field the ball was hit to the shortstop or second baseman may play a role backing up the throw to second.
