I would want to know the answers to your questions and I would ask. I was just trying to think of a way to break the ice. If she can't ask the coach if these girls are responsible for fundraising, then i would ask the new girls, why they weren't there in the Fall.

Having been a small college coach, if 10 new players showed up in Jan. and I hadn't explained anything - I would have had 10 players from the Fall in my office demanding answers.

Well ... since they are open try-outs I'm assuming that anyone CAN try-out ... final cuts haven't happened yet ... and quite frankly the Coach may be wondering where these gals were all year just as some of the players are ... As far as the "recruit" label ... DD was surprised that the Coach's were using that term since this is D3 ... but, what they were actually alluding to was players that they had gone to see play in HS and thus invited them to try-out ... I'm sure if these "new" gals make the team ahead of the gals that have been at it all year ( unless they were involved in other sports ) the Coach's will be confronted by a hoarding mob ... As far as questioning the Coachs before that time ... I'm not sure I would advise DD to do that, but it's really her call ... and as far as asking the new gals ... I'm not sure, but DD may figure they have every right to be there ... Communications have been spotty since her most recent cell phone (# 4 ) imploded ... #3 was run over by her Jeep ... #2 fell in her coffee & #1 was drop-kicked ( all since Sept. LOL ) ... now she has a track-phone ( dollar store ), limited minutes and no texting ... her younger's say if she can keep that safe for a month they'll buy her a real phone ... LMAOWIOAB

Good luck to your DD, but sounds to me like you didn't do your homework before she enrolled. And no offense, but if your DD was "recruited" at this school to play softball but now is worried about beating out 10 players or so out 30 trying out at a Div. III school, she probably should not be playing college softbally anyway and should be focusing on her studies. Frankly, this post caused you to lose a lot of credibility with me regarding some of your other posts.

In most cases it's a good idea for a poster to establish their own credibility before calling out others. But having just read the entirety of your contributions to this board, you needn't bother. It won't help.

Contrary to your belief, credibility is not defined by the ability to post 700 times on a softball forum. I suspect the entirety of my contribution to this forum will be to contribute to Spazdad taking down his original avatar, or causing him to put it back with this post.

DD called and they expanded the Varsity Roster from 18 to 19 and kept her off JV ... She was short on phone minutes so I didn't get to ask her about the "new" arrivals and whether any of them made the team ... but, it's really irrelevant because they were "open" tryouts as I mentioned ...
