The softball relationship between a Mgr/coach and player/parent is similar to the relationship between a man and woman.
Sometimes when the relationship is severed or ended, both parties return belongings and go their separate ways..
But sometimes,,,,,the other party wants retribution, revenge, half your stuff, alimony for betraying them, and will show all men that hell has no fury as a woman scorn.

Is that about right??

Case by case basis, and with this option on the table it illustrates the seriousness of the commitment while adding stability to the market place. :D

Not even close. It's like leasing a car for 8 months. In month 6, you decide you want another car instead. Your agreement says that you can't do this without paying a penalty. You knew about the penalty, agreed with it and signed the agreement. Now you want to complain about it and paint the dealer as unfair because you can't do what you want to do.....funny.

In the case of reduced playing time:

A coach may decide not to play your DD. Whether you agree with their decision or not, they have that right.

If the coaching staff no longer feels that your DD is an integral part of the team then I would hope that the two sides would be able to agree to the release of the player and allow them to find another team.

So you are saying everything was fine, right up until the team secured a berth. At that exact moment they secured a berth, they went from being tolerable, kind of working, to the biggest bunch of dbags so fast that you had to quit the team immediately?

So 6 moths into your lease you discover your car is a lemon (AKA dbag coach) and your advice is suck it and stick it out. Lemon law anyone.

That you think a commitment/agreement is one way is idiotic

I look at my daughter considerably different than I do my car. I understand what both sides are saying - but I have seen cases where a kid should have been pulled - and wasn't. And its takes 3-4 years to correct the damage.

He could have pulled her 2 weeks earlier, no one would have said a thing. At this point they only have to put up with the coach until July 25th. Not sure how a coach goes from being ok/livable to be being life altering negative and 3-4 years of damage correction, in 1 or 2 weekends.

My only issue is that at this time of the year, this is when issues are heavily play time related. Team locks down for nationals on a couple of tournaments, PGF qualifier, Colorado. This is when it dawns on some players/families that they may be sharing time at a position. People should not be hopping to new teams over play time after their team has qualified.

They can still pull her from the team. Just much harder to drop in on a new team, now. If there was legitimate wrong doing there is a process to take that to PGF. They can also just drop off the team and skip going to PGF.

It just makes sense to have some form of roster lock in for teams that are qualified. So it is going to be hard to accommodate all of those that want to leave teams after the team has qualified.

The roster lock should work both ways. Kids that played hard to get their teams to berths frequently find themselves riding the pine once the coach is able to cherry pick studs from other teams that failed to qualify.

I can only laugh when people talk about loyalty and commitment on the part of the kid and family when most of these coaches are more than willing,to fatten their roster with new players for a few weeks and sit the kids that got them there.

I understand - if a pull needs to happen, the reason should have been apparent for a while , if not , like you said, you only have 6 weeks or so to go. And you have learned a good lesson for the next season. Mine , at a early age on one team, wanted to pull out - it was not qualifying time yet, the reason, she was tired of some pretty crappy racist nonsense (she was the only white kid) - I told her to deal with it, others went through a lot worse. She finished the season. If I had known what a tird she was going to grow up to be, I would have had her stay on that team for another 6 or 7 years.

And how many teams have you run, Vida?

A) if the car is a a lemon, it's a single car......but you bought that model after lots of research....and you would but that model again. Coaching doesn't work that way. You can find out pretty much anything you want about a coach prior to committing to his team.

B). What you want is to to be able to wreck the f%cking car and sue the dealer because you are a crappy driver.

Your stupid comment on agreement/contracts only applies if the coaches were kicking kids off the team after they qualify and not releasing them. That is not happening.
