Daddy Ball

What's on your mind?

by GIMNEPIWO » Fri Jan 16, 2009 11:04 am

Well ... as unfortunate as it may be ... Welcome to the World ... Daddy Ball is really no different than when you join the workforce and find out you are passed over for promotions in favor of the bosses Son, or Son in Law, DD or whoever has come to work for the Company but is not qualified to buff your flip-flops ... like the old saying goes " Daddy-Ball happens" ...

Daddy Ball Story this year... Fall Tourny and a 16U team is playing up in 18U ... Daddy Coach ( who I knew ) of that team is going around asking all the 18U Coaches "Did you see that girl that I found to pitch for us today? ..She is pretty good isn't she ? ... she played 16U this year ... I'm going to try and get her to play with us next year ... she can still play 16U for another year ... did you see her, she is pretty good ... she plays shortstop too ... and center ... she can play anywhere ... did you see that girl I FOUND" .... After a short time it was like he had public flatulence ... peeps were running away from him ...LMAO

Hey guys
My daughter pitches and WANTS to play 1B. Well, my dd is a good pitcher (10U) and has benn #1 pitcher past 2 years, (rec, allstars, travel). Now my #1 is whoever is throwing best at the time AND who we are playing plays a role. My very accaurate 3 pitch girl with no speed is #1 against power hitting teams. My point is my daughter gets a role like all other girls.

1b, well, my daughter sucks compared to our #1, (sorry honey if you read hey bucket), but could easily be our #2 1B, well, again I NEED her in OF, so again, she has a role like all the other girls.

Play your DD where she is not going to help the team the best and you are daddy ball! Some coaches are just weak and cant tell their DD no, sorry but it's true.

Friendly tournaments are a great place to give them that experience in positions they desire and sometimes deserve.

Just my 2 cents.
peace

Our manager's daughter sits more than anyone on the team because he recognizes the fact that she isn't the best player out there..... but she has more heart more integrity, more courage and a better attitude than many of the top players around!.... Hi CoachRyan!
Too bad, so sad, bye bye

If you don't like one daddy's version of the team HE put together, start your own team with your over-rated, over-paid, former college player...who has yet to secure a real job.

Cheers to the Daddys!!!

I hate agreeing with Joe (he's miuch more fun to argue with), and it seems like I agree with him more often than not these days. WTF is the world coming to?

Those that I've seen constantly complain about "daddy ball" over the years usually fall into
one of two groups.

Group 1: Does a poor job of doing their homework before selecting
a travel team for their DD

Group 2: Is either unwilling or unable to come to terms with the reality
that their dd's game is on a f**king milk carton.

From my perspective, Daddy ball is when you coach just because your kid's on the team. You stop coaching when your kid is not on the team. Because of this, typically the daddy baller is inexperienced and doesnt know what they are talking about or doing. They usually are dont know the rules or the game. Their resume experience consists of farting while sitting in front of MLB baseball and playing right field in little league 25 years prior. They are also usually hot heads. I have very little patience with them, as opposed to a real coach and can sniff out a daddy baller by the time about two sentences come out of their yap.

In terms of playing time.. if their kid takes up one slot just because of their daddy ball coach and your kid isnt able to muster up enough to be one of the other 8, well then your kid probably sucks and I really could careless.

The ultimate is when you are in my situation - I have two dds on my team, and guess where they play, SS and pitcher. Is that the ultimate in daddy ball or what. Good thing this is a free country because people can play where they want and I have plenty of kids who want be on this team, but there isnt room.

I dunno if its ultimate or not..
Do they slap 1st and clean up 4th in the ole batting order?

And you might get a daddy ball pass anyway; since you seem to breed softball studs. ;)

If you think Daddy ball coaches that don't know the game are bad, you should come down to our little league field and watch the daddy ball umpires that don't know the game :|
